Christ Church won both the upper and lower secondary divisions of the Have Sum Fun Mathematics Competition held at Duncraig Senior High School in March. The competition, run by the Mathematical Association of WA (MAWA), is an exciting mathematics initiative that uses a quiz night format.

Head of Mathematics Jan Honnens said the School entered six teams across the two divisions in which teams of six students race against the clock to solve four intense rounds of eight challenging problems.

In the upper secondary division for Years 11 and 12 students, Christ Church finished first, fifth and sixth. In the lower secondary division for Years 8 to 10 students, the School finished first, third and fourth. The winning team members were:

Mr Honnens said he was delighted with the boys’ performance in the first of the schools’ mathematics competitions for the year. The first prize-winning team members were invited to present their trophies to Headmaster Garth Wynne at an assembly at the end of Term 1.
