Recently, a team of talented Year 9 students travelled to Sydney to represent Christ Church in the prestigious national Da Vinci Decathlon, hosted by Knox Grammar School.
This rigorous academic competition challenges some of Australia’s brightest young minds, with teams tackling ten disciplines: Engineering, Mathematics, Code Breaking, Art and Poetry, Science, English, Ideation, Creative Producers, Cartography, and Legacy.
Having secured their place by winning their year level at the WA state competition, the team of eight faced a demanding weekend of academic challenges that tested their collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking skills.
Their efforts were rewarded with outstanding results:
- 1st place – English and Codebreaking
- 2nd place – Creative Producers
- 3rd place – Mathematics
- 3rd overall in the national competition
Congratulations to Fergus Khoo, Josiah Yek, Keshav Garg, Jayden Khoo, Theo Farnsworth, Zachary Tran, Terence Zhao and Noah Yuen for their achievements. Beyond their podium finishes, the team was praised for their enthusiasm, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
We also thank Lachlan Hall, Head of the Centre for Excellence, for his vital support and guidance, which helped the team excel.
