On Wednesday 27 April, the Year 10 Geography students exchanged their traditional classroom for the coastal environments of Port Coogee and Point Peron.

They explored the development of Port Coogee’s coastal environment before taking part in a team orienteering activity at Point Peron. The extension group will later use their fieldwork notes as the basis for a hypothetical coastal marina development in New South Wales.

“The boys thoroughly enjoy taking part in fieldwork excursions where they can use their classroom theory for inquiry-based activities,” said Head of Geography, Jane Shannon.

The Geography curriculum at Christ Church provides great opportunities for boys, including studying the interconnections of wine in the Swan Valley in Year 11 and investigating urban characteristics and processes throughout Perth in Year 12.
