International tours take students from stage to slopes

During the school holidays, Christ Church students travelled overseas for two memorable tours, with one group performing on stages across England while another hit the slopes in New Zealand.
The Midnite Youth Theatre Company (MYTC) embarked on its sixteenth international tour, spending 18 days performing The Dunes, a new Australian play by Michelle McCormick commissioned especially for the 2026 MYTC UK Tour. Thirteen students performed the production at seven schools across England.
The tour also gave students the opportunity to take part in workshops with renowned theatre companies, enjoy performances in London’s West End, visit the Royal Shakespeare Company and Shakespeare’s Globe, and explore historic sites throughout England and Paris.
Following its successful UK tour, The Dunes will be performed at the CCGS Drama Centre tonight and tomorrow for two performances only. Book tickets here
Meanwhile, 20 students travelled to Cardrona Alpine Resort on New Zealand’s South Island for the annual Ski Tour. Staying in the picturesque town of Wānaka, students enjoyed five days on the slopes, developing their skiing and snowboarding skills in excellent snow conditions.
Away from the mountain, the group explored Wānaka, sampled local food, browsed the town’s shops and visited the famous Puzzling World.
Both tours gave students the chance to learn beyond the classroom, challenge themselves and create lasting memories with their peers.
