Earlier this week, Christ Church welcomed respected parenting educator Mike Dyson to present to parents on the topic Better Conversations with Young Men – Supporting your son to rise above the Manosphere. More than 300 parents attended the presentation, highlighting the significance and relevance of this important conversation.

Hosted by the Centre for Health and Wellbeing, the evening explored the important role that communication, connection and relational presence play in supporting boys as they navigate the increasingly complex transition from adolescence into young adulthood. The presentation aligned strongly with the School’s broader commitment to supporting the development of healthy, respectful and purposeful young men through intentional wellbeing, pastoral and character education programs.

Director of the Centre for Health and Wellbeing, Brad Gardner, reflected on the importance of maintaining strong communication with boys throughout adolescence.

“Strong relationships with young men are built through consistent communication, trust and connection over time,” he said.

“As boys grow older and increasingly independent, it becomes even more important that parents and educators continue creating space for open, honest and meaningful conversations.”

The evening also connected closely with the School’s broader philosophy surrounding rites of passage and the journey from boyhood into manhood, particularly through programs such as Year 9 On Queenslea Drive, which intentionally guide boys and their families through key stages of growth, responsibility and self-awareness.

The Centre for Health and Wellbeing continues to provide opportunities for students, staff and parents to engage with leading educators and presenters on topics relevant to the wellbeing and development of young people in a rapidly changing world.

The next Community Speaker event will feature parenting educator Daniel Principe on Wednesday 24 June, presenting on the topic Championing Boys to Become Good Men in a Digital World. Further information about Daniel Principe can be found here
