Year 10 Pathways Breakfast explores options beyond ATAR
Published on: 7 May 2026
Yesterday, the School hosted the Year 10 Pathways Breakfast, bringing together students and their parents to explore the range of senior school options available beyond ATAR.
The morning provided valuable insight into the diverse opportunities available in Years 11 and 12, with representatives from a range of agencies outlining pathways that support students in developing practical skills, industry experience and clear post-school direction.
A highlight of the event was hearing from Year 12 students Joshua Chatfield and Jeeo McGuire, who spoke openly about their own experiences on a non-ATAR pathway. Their reflections offered both reassurance and inspiration to the Year 10 students, highlighting the confidence that comes from pursuing a pathway aligned with individual strengths and interests.
Career Counsellor and VET Coordinator James McMahon reinforced the School’s approach to personalised success, noting that “success looks different for each individual and can be achieved across a range of environments. Our role is to identify students’ strengths and connect them with experiences, courses and pathways that enable them to achieve this.” He highlighted opportunities including work experience, Try-a-Trade programs, short courses, pre-apprenticeships, VET courses and university applications.
The morning was a strong reminder that success is not defined by a single pathway, but by finding the right fit, and ensuring every student is supported to reach his potential.
