Ad Astra at UWA inspires Year 11 students
Published on: 5 February 2026
Year 11 students gathered at the University of Western Australia (UWA) for the annual Ad Astra event, an initiative designed to inspire and guide them as they embark on the next stage of their academic journey. Developed by the Studies Office, the event offers valuable insights into academic success, personal growth, and career exploration, setting a positive and purposeful tone for the year ahead.
Throughout the day, students participated in a range of interactive sessions led by Christ Church teachers and external specialists, including Dr Jane Genovese (PhD) from Learning Fundamentals. Presentations focused on motivation, effective study strategies, note-taking and revision techniques, the safe and effective use of AI, and the importance of prioritising health and wellbeing during Senior School.
To further enhance the experience, non-ATAR students completed White Card Training, gaining essential workplace skills and practical preparation for future employment.
As a pivotal year for exploring pathways, refining academic skills, and setting long-term goals, Year 11 plays a crucial role in shaping students’ futures. The Ad Astra event provides a strong foundation, with students leaving UWA feeling motivated, confident, and ready to approach the next phase of their education with clarity and purpose.
