On Thursday 31 March, Christ Church’s Jazz Ensembles will be launching their Jazz CD in the Refectory. All four Jazz Ensembles will take part in the launch, including Jazz I, Jazz II, Jazz Combo and the Sax Ensemble.

The recording session was undertaken late last year at Crank Recording Studio, Northbridge. The CD showcases 15 tracks of music ranging from swing through to Latin rock and funk. Over 50 boys participated in the recording, all of which worked incredibly hard in preparing for their performance.

“The boys played to the best of their abilities in their respective ensembles, exhibiting well honed ensemble work and inventive solo improvisations. A key element on display was the cooperation and teamwork shown whilst under the pressure of an unfamiliar studio and ever-looming time constraints,” said Paul Millard, Director of Jazz.

This is a free event for parents, friends, students and jazz enthusiasts, and a great way to support our Christ Church musicians. Performances from the Jazz Ensembles will commence at 5.00pm with drinks and light snacks served from 6.00pm. The CD will be available for purchase ($20 each), with all funds going towards the project.
