Businessmen's LunchChris Webster’s (1999) inspiration for the 2014 Businessmen’s Lunch was to bring an unknown old boy from London, ask him to entertain the gathering while cooking a veritable feast of four courses at the same time. And so Paul Salmeri (1999) rose to the challenge and did just that. The historically named Businessmen’s Lunch has morphed into something quite different from the suit and tie event held in St George’s Terrace for many years.

Paul had not lived in Perth since he left school at the end of 1999 and joined the Navy. So commenced his experiences around the world culminating in him cooking at the famous River Café in London, a two Michelin star restaurant.

The lunch, held on a perfect spring day overlooking the river in the St Hilda’s Dining Room, was in the style of a rustic Italian village scene, created by Tony Salom (1982). It ended with appetites sated and digestives (limoncello and amaro) passed down the tables as the sun set.

Paul’s story is amazing and inspirational – his personality infectious. He is an excellent Christ Church ambassador. Read his speech here. Marvel at the menu here. View the photo gallery here.
