Obituary

Frank Fraser

Former teacher Frank Fraser (1967-1988) died on 2 January 2015. Frank’s health had been in decline for the last few years. Born in Wagga Wagga in 1927, Frank worked as a stockman during the war when he was refused enlistment due to his age. In 1947, he joined the Army and served at various locations including the Woomera Rocket Range, Papua and New Guinea (Pacific Island Regiment), Brisbane, Malaysia and Indonesia before his discharge in 1975. After a short stint selling used cars, Frank was appointed to a role at Christ Church to run the Army Cadet Unit and establish the School’s outdoor education centre ‘Kooringal’ at Dwellingup. Frank’s employment at CCGS lasted 21 years until his retirement in 1988. As testament to the man and his positive impact, Frank was elected an Honorary Life Member of the OBA in 2011. Since his death, many old boys have commented on the positive influence Captain Fraser had on their life. Frank is pictured here with Lieutenant Peter Tooke (1969) and Headmaster Peter Moyes inspecting the troops in 1981.
