Matt Calkin (2001)

Matt Calkin (2001) was selected to represent his country in softball at the Special Olympics World Games in Los Angeles. His team finished with a medal! The games were held from July 25 to August 2, with 7000 athletes from 177 countries participating in 25 sporting events. Australia sent 76 athletes, with 10 coming from WA. This was Matt’s third Olympics, and having won his Gold medal in Golf in Athens (2011), he decided to take up a team sport and started playing softball.
