Quarterly lunch – Class of 1961
Published on: 16 April 2014
This photograph is evidence that there is life after retirement and sharing lunch, a beer and a few stories with guys you have known for close to 60 years is not a bad way to spend an afternoon. We had 11 starters at the 1961 Quarterly Lunch and for those who do not recognise the attendees, the following met at Clancy’s Fish Pub in City Beach: (left to right) Gary Smith, Ean Marshall, Don Stewart, Peter Illidge, Lindsay Collins, Geoffrey Hick, Doug Ranford, Kim Forrest, Tom Hollingsworth, Jeff Colley and Tony Wray. We had apologies from Murray Criddle, Gordon Martin, Terry Parker, John Brazier and Tony Carris, who are all travelling at the moment and Ian Marshall, the ‘Two Bobs’ – Bob Williams and Bob Meagher, Tim Campbell, Richard Renk and Duncan Rocchi, who were unable to make it due to other commitments. Peter Edwards also made contact and hopes to be in the West to join us later in the year. Conversations ranged from travels, 70th birthday celebrations, SMSFs, politics, golf, food, wine and cars, amongst other things. The ocean looked magnificent and it was a very pleasant gathering. It looks like we have two teams of four competing in the OBA Golf Day at Mosman Park Golf Club on Friday 11 April. Thanks to Terry Parker we have purloined the only four golf carts available. For those who are regular golfers perhaps we should have nine holes on the morning of the next lunch? Note the date for the next luncheon, same time and place on Thursday 19 June. We hope to see you there!
