Robin RetchfordRobin Retchford (1954) called into the Old Boys’ office whilst in Perth on Monday 7 September. Robin lives in Hobart but was in WA to visit Leonora and Gwalia where he had been invited to open an exhibition of WW1 memorabilia curated by the WA Museum. Robin’s namesake Uncle Roy was somewhat of a local hero serving from the outset of the war until he was killed in action two months before the war ended. He was highly decorated and Robin has his Military Cross which he took to Gwalia. Robin’s father was in the same battalion (11th) but in different companies and he was severely wounded at the finish and spent all of 1919 in London before he was repatriated back to Perth.
