The School’s sporting teams have been going well, and with three fixtures remaining to finish the season, along with the Head of the River regatta on 22 March there are still opportunities to come along and support the boys. Tonight, we wish all students involved in the PSA Swimming Inters the best of luck. Tickets are limited to parents of swimmers and a small group of senior students who will be cheering loudly in the stands. For all those at home, you can view the action online here.

It seems a little early in the year to be speaking about sickness, but the absentees clearly indicate that a range of viruses are present in our community. Whilst we don’t want to experience a pandemic situation again, we do know that hygienic practices and management of sickness, by remaining at home while infectious, reduces the spread of sickness. We all need to be thoughtful around our practices to reduce the spread of sickness and to protect ourselves. Please reinforce with your sons’ the hygiene practices that will assist in keeping the community healthy as I have done so in assembly today.

Student safety and traffic management around the school precinct are constant concerns for our community. All too often, we have a spate of near misses involving students crossing major roads within the vicinity of the school. Students received another reminder this morning to stay off their mobile phones when walking or riding to and from school and especially when crossing roadways. This also includes not having headphones on. Your support in reiterating this with your son/s would be appreciated.

On Wednesday 25 June (Week 9 of Term 2), Yonga House will be hosting a Silent Disco to raise funds for the Indigenous Literacy Foundation, which supports access to books and learning resources for children in remote Indigenous communities. All classes will have the opportunity to participate, and a timetable will be provided to teachers. Students are encouraged to bring a gold coin or a note donation on the day. Our Building Good Men Regional Boarding Scholarship is now available for boys wishing to attend Christ Church Grammar School as a boarder, entering Year 7 in 2026.

Yonga House Silent Disco Fundraiser

On Wednesday 25 June (Week 9 of Term 2), Yonga House will be hosting a Silent Disco to raise funds for the Indigenous Literacy Foundation, which supports access to books and learning resources for children in remote Indigenous communities. All classes will have the opportunity to participate, and a timetable will be provided to teachers. Students are encouraged to bring a gold coin or a note donation on the day. Deputy Principal/Head of Senior School, Mark Morrissy will provide an overview of Year 12 leadership opportunities, and Director of The Wynne Centre for Health and Wellbeing, Brad Gardner, will discuss health and wellbeing at Christ Church.

After the talks, there will be an opportunity to enjoy drinks and canapés while catching up with other Year 11 parents, so please wear your name badge on the evening.

July Holiday Revision Programs

Students who have not achieved the results they were expecting in the Semester 1 examinations should strongly consider attending one or more of the revision courses during the July holiday period.

The emphasis of these intensive revision courses will be on experienced teachers modelling how to answer examination questions successfully. Students in previous cohorts have reported how helpful these courses have been for them.

Year 11 students participated in a Study Skills program conducted by Elevate Education, focusing on high-value exam preparation tasks, learning from mistakes, effective time management and strategies for managing stress and pressure.

ATARget Master Classes – Term 2

These small group sessions focussing on key ATAR subjects give students quality academic support that will reinforce and consolidate skills and processes learnt in class. Classes are held on Saturday afternoons during the term, commencing on Saturday 3 May. Students can enrol at any time during the term and simply pay pro rata.

Baptism and Confirmation

This year Christ Church will be holding a service of baptism and confirmation. This will occur on Friday 25 July at 5.00pm in the School Chapel. Any students, parents or staff interested in either being baptised and/or confirmed at the service are welcome to be involved. The service is also open to siblings of CCGS students and future CCGS students. Preparation meetings and sessions will begin soon.

On behalf of the Parents’ Association, all Year 12 students and their father or significant male role model are invited to our Year 12 Father/Friend and Son Breakfast.

This year, we are honoured to welcome Professor Graeme Hankey (class of 1974), an internationally acclaimed neurologist, clinician, and Chair in Stroke Research at the Perron Institute UWA, whose groundbreaking work in stroke prevention and treatment has shaped global health initiatives.

Dropping a sixth subject

Please note that no further subject changes are allowed in Year 12. Students may drop their sixth subject according to the following deadlines:
- Subjects with a practical component – by Thursday 24 July.
- Subjects without a practical component or a General subject – by Monday 11 August.
Curtin University Medicine – Casper Test

Students who wish to apply to Curtin University (Medicine) this year, apart from the UCAT, applicants will also need to register and complete the Casper Test, which is conducted by Acuity Insights.
- Applicants will be ranked for the interview offer on the basis of their Casper score, UCAT score and ATAR.
- All applicants (other than Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islanders) must complete the Casper Test.
- School leavers and Curtin Course Switchers must sit the Undergraduate Casper Test. Non-school Leavers (Graduates) will have to sit the Postgraduate Casper Test.
- Casper scores are valid only for the next available admissions year. Applicants should only complete the test in the year immediately preceding their planned year of admission. Applicants re-applying for the Medical Entry in a subsequent year must re-sit the Casper Test.
- The Casper Test is held nationally and is sat online from home.
- Applicants are responsible for making their own arrangements to register for the Casper Test. Please refer to the Acuity Insights website to register for the test.
Casper 2025 test dates:
- 5 August 2025 at 5.00pm (AWST)
- 11 September 2025 at 5.00pm (AWST)
- 5 October 2025 at 7.00am (AWST)

Important Academic Dates 2025

Year 12 is a fast and frenetic year – it is very helpful if parents, as well as boys, are aware of key dates. They can be found here. Please take particular note that if your son is studying a subject with a practical exam, he must be available during the Term 3 holidays for this exam. SCSA issues these exam times and will not make alternative arrangements where the times are deemed inconvenient by parents. They also do not accede to parents’ requests for particular dates and times. In short – please do not make any plans to travel interstate or overseas with your son during the Term 3 holidays.
