The school year is disappearing rapidly. With Year 12 students continuing their ATAR exams this week, the School is particularly quiet, maybe it is just the removal of nearly 200 boys from the environment.
The coming weeks see continued change to the structure of the School with Year 10 students commencing exams next Tuesday. Next Thursday they will focus their energies on the important Venture packing phase in preparation for their departure to the south coast on Monday 17 November. Year 11 students are in the final days of their courses and break for a few study days next week, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, before they commence their exams on Friday 14 November.
Last night saw the opening night of the Midnite production of ‘Charlie Pilgram’. Another entertaining show with some outstanding performances from our Year 7 and 8 students. Tickets can be purchased here.
This morning, we were honoured to host Zac Vinten, Old Boys’ Association (OBA) President and esteemed members of the OBA Committee, including 2024 School Captain Jeremiah Wang, as they presented this year’s OBA Legends, Honorary Life Members, and Fellow awards during assembly. I am humbled to have been awarded an OBA Fellowship and to stand with the recipients of the OBA Future Legends for 2025, Conor Coleman (’19), Sam O’Brien (’21) and Nick Thompson (’17) and Honorary Life Members, Mrs Wendy Hillman – Archives and CCGS History; Mr Shane McGurk – Swimming and Mr Don Fraser – Rowing (posthumously), who were honoured for their outstanding accomplishments and for the significant impact they had on the School and the OBA.
Our thanks also go to the OBA as our alumni network at CCGS as they continue to foster lifelong connections among former students, support the current school community, and preserve the School’s traditions.
The Year 11 CCGS and St Mary’s students going to Cambodia later this year on the Service in Action program are running a fundraiser on Saturday 8 November from 8.00am until 12.00pm at the CCGS lower carpark. Come along and enjoy a sausage sizzle, drink, cakes, purchase local olive oil, lots of bargain second hand shoes and more while watching the CCGS versus Scotch fixture. All funds are donated directly to Cambodia Children’s Fund.
