- A busy finish to the term
- House Arts Grand Final
- Living our School Values
- End of term attendance
There is plenty happening over the next few weeks to finish out the term. Year 9 camps at Kooringal, Wolsey OQD, Camelot Jazz Night, Rock at the Rosemount, PSA sporting fixtures, SIA trips to Looma and Tambellup and the Year 11 Dance, to name just a few. Best of luck to all students, and thank you to all the staff involved in these events.
This morning sees the House Arts Competition Grand Final, with points going towards the Beatty Cup. I hope the students have enjoyed this time to participate in activities and represent their House, whether it is in Chess, Public Speaking, eSports, Spelling Bee, Jigsaw puzzles, or just supporting their House as members of the audience. The House Arts Cup will be awarded in the coming weeks.
This weekend, we play our local rivals Scotch at home. As always, we would love to see the blue and gold around the grounds supporting the boys. Supporters’ gear, including some nice warm scarves, beanies and hoodies, will be available for purchase from Mount Claremont on Friday and Saturday.
There has been reflection at a pastoral level regarding recent racial hatred and homophobic slurs in the professional AFL domain. The way our students converse with each other, both in person and online, always needs to be aligned with our School Values and tomorrow morning during tutorial, we will be educating your son further in this important area. It would be great if you could please follow up with your son about what was discussed and reiterate your alignment. I also want to take this opportunity to thank you for your support with the improved presentation standards we have seen lately, particularly with regard to the school blazer being worn to and from school.
As we move closer to the end of term and the upcoming three-week break, we would like to remind families that while there are times when students must be absent for important reasons (such as bereavement or illness), we strongly encourage parents to avoid taking their sons out of school during term time. Such absences can significantly disrupt the continuity of teaching, learning, and assessment. In the case of a planned extended absence, we appreciate the advance notice through contact with your son’s Head of House. This will enable appropriate planning and clarity around missed assessments and classroom work.
