Rock Workshop Extravaganza
Year 10 exam period

2019 Annual Design and Technology Exhibition

The Rock Workshop Extravaganza will be held this Sunday 10 November in the Chapel forecourt. 14 bands, comprising of students from Years 2 to 12, will perform their favourite covers and originals and the Friends of Music will be running a sausage sizzle and raffle. Please join us for an afternoon of great music and feel free to invite your extended family and friends – this is an event not to be missed

Year 10s will commence their two day examination period on Wednesday 13 November. I know the boys have been studying in preparation and look forward to their Venture experience that will follow.

Year 11s will commence their study days on Thursday 14 November in preparation for their examinations the following week.

On the evening of Friday 15 November we will open the 2019 Annual Design and Technology Exhibition. Staff, students, parents and members of the at Christ Church community will have the pleasure of viewing a number of hand-crafted masterpieces that will be exhibited in our Design and Technology building. The exhibition will run for one week with public access between 9.00am and 3.00pm.

The Western Australian Government, through the Department of Education, provides an allowance to assist eligible families with secondary schooling costs. Parents/guardians must apply for the Secondary Assistance Scheme (SAS) each school year (annually) – applications do not carry forward to future years.

To be eligible for the allowance, the parent/guardian must hold a Services Australia (Centrelink) or Veterans’ Affairs card that represents a statement of income for the family.

The allowance consists of two components:

Council Scholarships

Applications for the Year 7 Council Scholarships, 2027 entry, are now open. Each scholarship has a value of up to 50 per cent of the school tuition fees. A Council Entrance scholarship, while subject to annual review, is tenable for the duration of a boy’s education at Christ Church Grammar School. All applicants are required to sit a scholarship examination on Saturday 21 February 2026.

Master Mind January Jump Start Program (Years 7 to 10 2026)

Master Mind is offering its January Jump Start Program. These group sessions aim to prepare students for the new academic year before the commencement of school in February. The subject-specific classes offer students a revision of those difficult concepts from the 2025 syllabus, which later become the foundation for the new work they will encounter in the new year. They also offer students a ‘window’ into the units they will encounter in term 1, 2026. Students in Years 7 and 9 will also be coached on how to successfully tackle their NAPLAN assessments that are scheduled for March 2026. The program also offers a six-hour Study Skills program and a six-hour Essay Writing class. More details are available on the MMA website here.

UCAT NIE has scheduled a number of workshops to support Year 10 and 11 students who are aspiring to study medicine or dentistry and want to make a strong head start in preparing for the medical school entry assessments. The upcoming school holidays are the perfect time for students to begin their UCAT preparation, build interview confidence and gain a valuable advantage before the busy school year begins.
