At Christ Church, our focus on leadership development begins when a boy joins his tutorial group. Our vertical tutorial group structure promotes the concept of ‘boys mentoring boys.’ In his tutorial, a boy will be guided through a wide range of opportunities, all of which can provide degrees of leadership growth.

This week all Year 11 boys will be issued with a document that outlines the roles and responsibilities for House and School Prefects. It is important that all boys understand these responsibilities prior to completing a nomination form. The process of selecting boys for leadership positions is conducted in a democratic and thorough manner that engages all boys in the Senior School. My reason for outlining this process is to emphasise that the responsibility for selecting and ensuring a high quality of student leadership does begin with the boys. This year they have had many fine role models to look up to including Captain of School, Matt Tissiman and Vice-Captain, Marc Boyatzis. I will be presenting information on the School’s leadership selection processes at the Parents’ Association Year 11 Sundowner this Sunday 29 July at 5.30pm.

This term we have introduced two new trial bus services to help address the needs of families that live a distance from the School as well as traffic congestion. Floreat Express departs opposite MLC on Stirling Highway (students need to cross the overpass) and Shenton Park/Nedlands/Subiaco departs from Queenslea Drive. Both services will continue to be monitored throughout this term as we determine their viability and student take up. I encourage you to visit our travel page to familiarise yourself with all bus services available to boys at Christ Church.
