  • NAPLAN results
  • MMG Survey for Years 3, 6, 9 and 12 parents
  • Changing COVID-19 rules

Tonight is the Preparatory School’s Open Night with the classrooms and Art Exhibition showcasing the wonderful work of all students and teachers. This is followed by our Grandparents Day celebration tomorrow morning and once again we have record numbers of grandparents attending the assembly, enjoying the open classrooms, Art Exhibition and a delicious morning tea in Sandover. We are looking forward to welcoming them on to campus.

This week we reviewed the School’s NAPLAN results which indicate that the mean scores achieved by Christ Church students across Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 are well above the state and national means in each domain of numeracy, reading, writing, spelling and grammar and punctuation. Please follow this link  to a table on Nexus with a summary of the results, knowing that NAPLAN is only one of the ways used to gauge a student’s level of learning.

Last Friday a link to an online MMG Satisfaction Survey was emailed to all Years 3, 6, 9 and 12 parents. The School would greatly appreciate all parents providing their feedback as it forms part of our continuous improvement in the quality education we provide to our students. To ensure confidentiality and encourage frank and full expression of views, all responses will be treated in strict confidence and respondents will not be identified to the School by MMG Education on the basis of questions asked or responses made.

WA’s transition out of COVID-19 is continuing and from Friday 9 September mask mandates on public and passenger transport will end. Mask mandates continue in aged and disability facilities and the government is strongly recommending people continue to wear masks in crowded indoor settings as there are new sub-variants in the WA community, meaning the chances of infection and reinfection is now more likely for people who have already had COVID-19. Isolation days will also decrease from seven to five days. If your child becomes symptomatic, they should stay home and be tested for COVID-19. Please continue to notify the School if your child tests positive for COVID-19 at covid@ccgs.wa.edu.au.

On Sunday we have our Year 10 Parent Sundowner and Ryan Myles, Director of Kooringal will provide information on Venture one of our rites of passage programs. Venture has been running for more than 20 years and is a rite of passage for Year 10 boys. Together with a team of Outdoor Education staff, the boys will embark on an 11-day journey through the bushland and coastal settings of D’Entrecasteaux and Walpole-Nornalup National Park. This has proven to be a highlight of a Christ Church education for many past students and a regular conversation topic at reunions regardless of the age of the old boy.
