- Benefits of reading literature
This week, all the boys in the Preparatory School have been celebrating Neurodiversity Awareness Week. The boys are learning information about neurodiversity and autism through the student bulletin and are participating in activities conducted during their library lessons.
The students in Years 3 to 6 will take part in the Inter-House Cross Country Carnival today at our Mount Claremont Playing Fields. The races begin at a new time of 9.15am in an attempt to minimise the effect of the heat on our runners. All boys receive house points for participating, no matter where they finish in their race. The top ten boys in each year group will represent CCGS in the JPSSA Cross Country Carnival on 26 June. We wish the best of luck to all runners!
Reading exemplary literature provides a variety of benefits for our Preparatory boys such as fostering language development, cognitive growth, and emotional intelligence. High-quality stories introduce rich vocabulary, improve comprehension, and enhance writing skills by exposing boys to well-structured narratives. Engaging with literature also strengthens critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, encouraging creativity and imagination.
Through relatable characters and meaningful themes, boys develop empathy, learn moral values, and gain a deeper understanding of their own emotions. Additionally, literature broadens cultural awareness, introducing diverse perspectives and traditions while nurturing a lifelong love for learning. By immersing our boys in exemplary books, we equip them with essential skills that support both academic success and personal growth.
Our library staff have an in-depth knowledge of quality literature for our boys. As the school holidays approach, we encourage all boys to borrow from our library and enjoy their reading over the Term 1 holidays. A list of rich literature for each year level can be found here.
Lastly, I would like to congratulate our BGM Award winners.
