Each term in the Preparatory School, the staff promote and focus on one core value. Through our School Wide Positive Behaviour Support, the boys learn about this value during class time, through the student bulletin, in the playground and in Vertical House Groups. In Term 3, our core value is Integrity. The teachers encourage the boys to demonstrate integrity by providing examples of what this can look like around our school. Integrity can be demonstrated by using school devices appropriately, playing fairly during playtime and putting all rubbish in the school bins.
The School Values are also promoted within our House system with boys earning valuable house points for demonstrating Integrity at school. The house system is popular amongst our boys with students feeling proud to represent their house at carnivals, lunchtime competitions and the inter-house running club. The School Wide Positive Behaviour Support integrates our house system and school values, as well as our Vertical House Groups, social and emotional learning curriculum, service program and pastoral care services.
The Year 3 and 4 Speakers’ Challenge finals was hosted by Wesley College this week. Jimmy Strickland (4MT) and Teddy Harrison (4TR) represented Christ Church and performed exceptionally well, delivering their engaging speeches with confidence and clarity. Congratulations to Teddy for achieving the silver medal in the final. Well done, boys!
Week 4 has been a busy week in the Preparatory School with both Bullying, No Way Week and Science Week being recognised. Boys engaged in a number of activities around bullying and bystander behaviours in their Health and Wellbeing lessons in order to bring awareness to what constitutes bullying and what boys can do to address such behaviours. To celebrate Science Week, our Kindy, Pre-Primary, Year 1 and Year 3 boys were fortunate to experience the Birds of Prey incursion held in the Senior School with a highlight being the wedge tailed eagle. Boys had the opportunity to participate in Science Quizzes at lunchtime and explore this year’s theme of Decoding the Universe during their Library sessions.
