- Year 5 Kooringal
- Upcoming Awards Assemblies
This week I had the pleasure of visiting our Year 5 boys in Kooringal. It was great to witness the boys engage in their outdoor learning. Outdoor education plays a vital role in our boys’ development, and we are fortunate to have our Kooringal campsite as an integral part of this experience. Learning outside the classroom fosters teamwork, resilience, and problem-solving skills in a natural setting. At Kooringal, students engage in activities like rafting, bushwalking, orienteering, and team-building exercises, which help them build confidence, independence, and a deeper connection to the environment. These hands-on experiences not only complement classroom learning but also nurture a sense of curiosity, leadership, and respect for nature. Being away from home also allows students to step out of their comfort zones, make new friends, and build social skills. Sharing these adventures helps them form strong bonds, learn to collaborate, and appreciate the value of community.
As we approach the end of the Academic Year, we begin to celebrate the accomplishments and achievements of our boys. During our Awards Assembly, held in Week 4, we acknowledge all students who have achieved distinctions, high distinctions and received medals from several academic competitions held throughout the year. In our Sports Award Assembly, held in Week 5, we acknowledge boys who have achieved champion boy or runner up champion boy from our athletics, cross country and swimming carnivals. We also acknowledge the fairest and best and coach’s awards for boys who participate in the JPSSA summer and winter sport fixtures. Finally, in our Final Prize Giving Assembly, held in Week 7, we acknowledge boys in each class from Years 3 to 6 who have achieved academic excellence, demonstrated outstanding citizenship or have achieved a general merit. We will also acknowledge each subject prize for Year 6 boys. All families of boys receiving awards will be notified by the Preparatory School.
Congratulations to our BGM winners!
