Term 1 Parent Forum

NAPLAN 2026 information

Each term, the Preparatory School runs a Parent Forum for parents to gain insights into the operation of the Preparatory School. The Parent Forum for Term 1 takes place on Tuesday, February 10 from 8.30am to 9.30am in the Preparatory School staffroom. This term, we will be outlining our focus areas for 2026 as well as share with parents how we use data to inform our teaching. As we settle into Term 1, it has been wonderful to see relationships starting to form between our boys. Our new boys in Years 3 and 4 have been buddied up with friends from their classes to ensure they know where to go and have others to play with while getting used to their new school. Our Year 6 boys have begun their Service Program where they become supervisors at lunchtimes, allowing them to engage with boys of all age groups during lunchtimes to further build relationships across the year groups. On Friday, our official buddy program between the Year 6 cohort and boys from Pre-Primary and Year 1 will begin after Chapel. This program will last all year and will provide some of our youngest students a chance to form friendships with some of our older boys. Finally, our Vertical House Groups will begin in Week 4 where all boys from Years 2 to 6 will meet and engage in fun games to learn more about the School’s Values and get to know each other. These initiatives contribute towards a positive and collaborative community and a place where our boys can feel safe and valued.

The National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) takes place from March 11 to March 23. All boys in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 will complete reading, conventions of language, numeracy and writing assessments. All assessments are completed online, with boys using their devices to access the assessments. Year 3 boys will complete the writing assessments on paper. Allergies can be life threatening

Members of our school community are reminded that we are an allergy-aware school that has procedures in place for Allergy Awareness and Anaphylaxis Management. Please click here to view our Student Health Care Procedures.

Food allergies, the most severe form of which is anaphylaxis, remain a concern for many of our parents. The School encourages both current and new members of the school community to familiarise themselves with procedures in place to help support those families who must manage their son’s life-threatening condition daily.

Anaphylaxis is a severe, rapidly progressive allergic reaction that is potentially life-threatening. The most common foods that cause anaphylaxis in school-aged children are peanuts, eggs, tree nuts, cow’s milk, fish and shellfish, wheat, soy and sesame. Nut allergies are by far, however, the most common cause of anaphylaxis among our current student population.

Due to the life-threatening nature of a severe allergic reaction, we ask all parents to assist us in making the school environment as safe as possible for all students. Therefore, please avoid sending nuts or food products containing nuts to school.

Christ Church is a school known for its wonderful, connected community, and on Sunday 15 March will once again bring together bike riders of the school community to participate in the Principal’s Bike Ride. The ride will begin and conclude at the Christ Church Grammar School Claremont campus on Queenslea Drive. Commencing at 6.00am for a 6.30am departure, riders can choose from two cycling routes:
- Option A – Canning Bridge ride
- Option B – Mount Henry Bridge ride
The ride is for proficient peloton riders only, and all riders must accept the Principal’s Bike Ride Terms and Conditions to participate. Please note this is an over 16 years event.

Whether you are travelling solo, or with a friend, participants are encouraged to visit the Uniform Shop and purchase a Christ Church Grammar School riding top, specifically designed for the event. Jerseys will also be available for purchase on the morning of the event.

Child Health Nurse Kindergarten Presentation

Kindergarten parents are invited to attend a special information session with the Child Health Nurse, Rachel Hopkins. She will cover a variety of topics related to raising 3- and 4-year-olds, including the health screening that will be conducted later in the year. Rachel will also be able to answer any questions you may have.

The ride is for proficient peloton riders only, and all riders must accept the Principal’s Bike Ride Terms and Conditions to participate. Please note this is an over 16 years event.

Drop Off and Pick Up

We have seen an increase in parents breaking the school rules regarding where/how to drop off and pick up their son from school. This is leading to staff not being able to park on campus and a large increase in school traffic congestion.

Please adhere to the process for your son’s age group, and under no circumstances park on campus. See below for the process:
- In the morning, drop your son to school at the roundabout. Do not park.
- Staff car park drop gate is up from 2.15pm to 3.15pm. Please do not try to enter the staff car park during these times, and do not arrive early to queue at the drop gate.
- Please do not arrive early to collect your son, as this adds to traffic congestion. There is a staff member on supervision duty until 3.30pm.
- Collect your son from the roundabout quickly and then move on.
- Do not park on campus, as this holds up traffic moving through the school.
Pre-Primary Literacy Workshop

Parents of Pre-Primary boys are invited to attend our Literacy Workshop. The workshop, run by Early Learning Community and Learning Development Centre staff, will provide parents with an overview of our literacy program and the skills and concept knowledge students are exposed to each day in order to become successful readers and writers. Please join us to find out how you can best support your son in his literacy development and be provided with hands-on support ideas and experiences. Questions are welcomed.

2026 Parent Representatives

The Parents’ Association is seeking volunteers to act as Year Group Parent Representatives in 2026. This is a wonderful opportunity to become more involved with the school community and to build meaningful connections with other families. Primarily, the role of a Parent Representative is to organise social events for parents and families within their year group, as well as to occasionally support other Parents’ Association events. Galadent mouthguard fittings

Christ Church Grammar School is offering boys the services of an experienced Dental Prosthetist from Galadent, to attend to their mouthguard requirements. We are providing this service to help alleviate the need for parents to take care of their son’s required mouthguard for all contact sports.

Mouthguard impressions will take place in the Refectory, on Tuesday 3, Wednesday 4 and Thursday 6 March 2026 from 3.15pm to 6.30pm

The ride is for proficient peloton riders only, and all riders must accept the Principal’s Bike Ride Terms and Conditions to participate. Please note this is an over 16 years event.

Please adhere to the process for your son’s age group, and under no circumstances park on campus. See below for the process:

Applications for Council Academic, Music and Boarding Scholarships close on Wednesday 11 February 2026 at 4.00pm. These scholarships, awarded to boys entering Year 7, provide up to 50 per cent remission of school tuition fees and, subject to annual review, are tenable for the duration of a boy’s education at Christ Church Grammar School. These small group sessions focussing on Maths and English, give students quality academic support which will reinforce and consolidate skills and processes learnt in class. Classes are held on Saturday afternoons during term time.

In Term 1, the year 7 and 9 classes will also incorporate NAPLAN preparation, so that students are more confident as they approach the NAPLAN assessment in March. Students can enrol at any time during the term and simply pay pro rata.

Late arrival to School on a day of assessment

We are excited to invite you to our upcoming CCGS and MLC Health and Medical Expo.

This is an event designed for Years 10 to 12 to showcase the wide range of study and career pathways available in the health and medical fields. Parents and students will have the opportunity to meet representatives from leading universities and registered training organisations (RTOs), explore course options, and hear firsthand from past students who are now pursuing careers across the medical sector.

Late arrival to School on a day of assessment

Students who arrive late to school due to medical appointments and subsequently sit an assessment will need to have either a medical certificate or a note from their attending physician to justify the late attendance to avoid being awarded a zero.

Parents are invited to an information evening exploring how to talk about consent with your child. This interactive session offers practical strategies for discussing consent with young people, explores the influence of online culture, and provides a safe space for parents to ask questions and share experiences.

These small group sessions give ATAR students quality academic support, which will reinforce and consolidate skills and processes learnt in class. Classes are held on Saturday afternoons and Sunday mornings during term time. Students can enrol at any time during the term and simply pay pro rata.

Galadent Mouthguards

Christ Church Grammar School is offering students the services of an experienced Dental Prosthetist from Galadent, to attend to their mouthguard requirements. We are providing this service to help alleviate the need for parents to take care of their son’s required mouthguard for all contact sports.

Mouthguard impressions will take place in the Refectory, straight after school on Tuesday 3 to Thursday 5 March commencing at 3.15pm.

Assessment Periods 2026

Every Wednesday, Period 4 has been designated as an Assessment Period for Year 11 students. Not every student will have an assessment every week, but it would be appreciated if parents could avoid making medical appointments or other arrangements at this time. When students do not have an assessment at this time, they will be assigned to a learning space for private study. Boys are not permitted to leave the campus for Claremont during assessment periods.

Year 11 Parent/Teacher/Student interviews online

The Year 11 online interviews are scheduled for Monday 9 March from 3.45pm to 7.00pm. Parents will be advised of the booking process approximately ten days before the interviews.

Medical Certificates

Year 11 students are asked not to attend school when unwell and will need to obtain a medical certificate from a doctor who is not a family member to cover any absence from assessment due to illness.

Study Lab

Study Lab is open to all students for quiet or collaborative study and/or homework. Ms Bana is the teacher-in-charge. Study Lab hours are 3.05pm to 4.45pm Monday to Thursday.

Allergies can be life threatening

Members of our school community are reminded that we are an allergy-aware school that has procedures in place for Allergy Awareness and Anaphylaxis Management. Please click here to view our Student Health Care Procedures.

Food allergies, the most severe form of which is anaphylaxis, remain a concern for many of our parents. The School encourages both current and new members of the school community to familiarise themselves with procedures in place to help support those families who must manage their son’s life-threatening condition daily.

Anaphylaxis is a severe, rapidly progressive allergic reaction that is potentially life-threatening. The most common foods that cause anaphylaxis in school-aged children are peanuts, eggs, tree nuts, cow’s milk, fish and shellfish, wheat, soy and sesame. Nut allergies are by far, however, the most common cause of anaphylaxis among our current student population.

Due to the life-threatening nature of a severe allergic reaction, we ask all parents to assist us in making the school environment as safe as possible for all students. Therefore, please avoid sending nuts or food products containing nuts to school.

Christ Church is a school known for its wonderful, connected community, and on Sunday 15 March will once again bring together bike riders of the school community to participate in the Principal’s Bike Ride. Important Academic Dates 2026

Year 12 is a fast and frenetic year – it is very helpful if parents, as well as boys, are aware of key dates. The dates can be found here.

Please take particular note that if your son is studying a subject with a practical exam, he must be available during the Term 3 holidays for this exam. SCSA issues these exam times and will not make alternative arrangements where the times are deemed inconvenient by parents. They also do not accede to parents’ requests for particular dates and times.

In short – please do not make any plans to travel interstate or overseas with your son during the Term 3 holidays.

Requests for change of subject

Year 12 students who are seeking to change a subject need to speak with the Studies Office as soon as possible. Friday Week 9 is the latest point for such changes; however, given the shortness of the Year 12 academic year, the sooner it is done, the better. SCSA regulations dictate that no changes are available mid-year in Year 12. Students with any queries in this regard are welcome to speak to Dr Rose or Mr Vaswani in the Studies Office.
