Open Night and Art Exhibition
Welcoming grandparents and grandfriends
JPSSA Athletics

Tonight, the Preparatory School hosts the 2026 Open Night and Art Exhibition. This night is a tremendous opportunity for the boys to showcase all they have done this year across all Learning Areas. From 3.00pm to 6.00pm, the Preparatory School will invite families and friends to walk through the School and view work completed by students not only in the classroom, but also in specialty learning areas. The boys will showcase their skills from PE, musical performances, innovative projects in the Innovation Lab, and the Circus themed art works throughout the Art Room and Preparatory School corridors. As always, we are excited for this highlight of the School calendar and look forward to seeing families and friends in the Preparatory School.

Following on from Open Night, Friday morning is Grandparents Day. This highly anticipated event is an opportunity for grandparents and grandfriends to attend our Grandparents Assembly, experience the force of the Prep Rock Workshop, walk through the School with their grandsons and see all the wonderful learning that has taken place this year. The morning culminates in delicious morning tea for all grandparents. We welcome all grandparents and grandfriends to this event.

Today, our inter-school athletics team will represent Christ Church at the JPSSA Athletics Carnival at the State Athletics Stadium. All boys representing the School have demonstrated their commitment to the team by training before School, and we wish them all the best in their respective athletic events.

Families are welcome to stay afterwards for tasty treats in the hall.

All Western Australian school students with an active enrolment are eligible for the WA Student Assistance Payment. Eligible parents and caregivers can begin claiming the payment from Monday 20 July 2026, through the ServiceWA app.

Students from Pre-Primary to Year 3 will take part in swimming lessons during Term 4 on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays in Weeks 2 to 4 (19 October to 4 November) in our heated school pool.

Lessons will conclude with the Pre-Primary to Year 2 Swimming Carnival on Monday 9 November at 9.00am, followed by the Year 3 to 6 House Swimming Carnival the next day, Tuesday 10 November at 8.30am.

If your son is new to the School or in Pre-Primary, please email his current swimming level and swim school to McKenzie Pugh (mpugh@ccgs.wa.edu.au). Returning students from Term 4, 2025, will be grouped by previous ability.

After each lesson, boys will change into school uniforms in classrooms (unless medically exempt). Group placements will be reviewed and adjusted if necessary.

What to bring:
- CCGS bathers
- CCGS rash top
- Goggles
- Towel
- Thongs or slides
Lesson times will be shared in the coming weeks.

World’s Greatest Shave

On Friday 18 September, all students in Years 1 to 6 are invited to participate in the World’s Greatest Shave at Christ Church Grammar School between 10.30am and 11.30am. This special event raises vital funds for the Leukaemia Foundation, supporting Australians living with blood cancer and funding important research.

Boys wishing to shave their heads must collect a permission form from Mrs Telfer and return it signed before the event. Alternatively, students can have their hair temporarily coloured on the day for a $10 donation.

The long-awaited ‘crew neck windcheater’, has finally arrived at the Uniform Shop for students in Years 3 to 6 and can be worn as part of the Sport uniform.

The windcheater offers an extra layer of warmth, additional to the sports jacket. You can place an order for this garment in the Shop or online via MSA here.

The Music Department is delighted to offer twelve music bursaries each year on selected instruments to boys in Years 5 or 6 in 2027 who have shown enthusiasm, willingness to learn and dedication in classroom music lessons. As an initiative to raise the profile and build the music program, each bursary student will contribute to one or more music club or ensembles throughout their Preparatory and Senior schooling. Preparatory School Music Bursaries 2027

The Music Department is delighted to offer twelve music bursaries each year on selected instruments to boys in Years 5 or 6 in 2027 who have shown enthusiasm, willingness to learn and dedication in classroom music lessons. As an initiative to raise the profile and build the music program, each bursary student will contribute to one or more music club or ensembles throughout their Preparatory and Senior schooling. The blazer run for Years 7 to 10 for Colours, Honours and awards will commence in Term 4, week 2, from Monday 19 October to Friday 30 October.

Please bring your blazer to the Uniform Shop during the Shop’s normal trading hours, with all badges removed, pockets emptied, and your blazer clearly named. The Shop will have your blazer dry-cleaned as part of the embroidery process.

The Master Class program aims to better prepare ATAR students for their final November exams. The classes will reteach and revise the important components of a subject but primarily they will reveal to students how this work they have studied in class will be assessed in their final exams. In these sessions teachers will discuss the implementation of important exam strategies and offer tips to improve performance, as well as modelling how to successfully answer ATAR-style questions in order to gain the maximum marks possible. Year 12 2027 Blazer Run

The final blazer run for Year 11 students entering Year 12 in 2027, for Senior Braid, Colours, Honours and awards, will commence from Friday 18 September to Friday 25 September.

Please bring your son’s blazer to the Uniform Shop during the Shop’s normal trading hours, with all badges removed, pockets emptied, and your blazer clearly named. The shop will have your blazer dry clean as part of the embroidery process.

2027 Year 12 Prefects and Honours

The blazer run for Prefects and Honour blazers will take place on Thursday 17 September at 10.00am, straight after the Prefect Morning Tea.

End of Term 3 school buses

On the final day of Term 3, Friday 25 September, students will finish at staggered times between 12.00pm and 12.45pm. School buses will depart at 1.00pm, after all students have concluded their day.

ATARget Master Classes – Term 4 (Exam Focus)

The Exam Focus program aims to better prepare ATAR students for their final November exams. The classes will reteach and revise the important components of a subject but primarily they will reveal to students how this work they have studied in class will be assessed in their final exams. In these sessions teachers will discuss the implementation of important exam strategies and offer tips to improve performance, as well as modelling how to successfully answer ATAR-style questions in order to gain the maximum marks possible. There will also be time for students to independently practice constructing their own responses. For more information and bookings please visit the MMA website.

2027 Parent Representatives

The Parents’ Association is seeking expressions of interest from parents who would like to become Year Group Parent Representatives in 2027. This is a wonderful way to become involved in the school community and foster connections with other families.

The primary role of a Parent Representative is to organise social events for parents and families within their year group. If you would like to become involved, please complete the form here and we will be in touch.

Saturday Family Service

Our next monthly Saturday Family Service is this Saturday 12 September at 5.00pm at Christ Church Claremont (the church on the corner of Stirling Highway and Queenslea Drive) for CCGS families and the general public. This is a service designed for and enjoyed by children and youth, but anyone of any age is welcome. It is a simple and interactive 45-minute service of Holy Communion. Families are welcome to stay afterwards for tasty treats in the hall.

Year 11 program for Friday 11 September

On Friday 11 September, students will attend their normal classes for Periods 1 to 3 before travelling by bus to the PSA Athletics Carnival to support the Christ Church team.

Students are expected to return to School at approximately 2.30pm and will be dismissed shortly after their return.

Traffic Warden Vacancy

Following the retirement of our long-serving Traffic Warden, Ivan, after nine years of dedicated service to the Christ Church community, an opportunity now exists for someone to take on this important role.

The Traffic Warden plays a vital part in ensuring the safe movement of students and families during busy morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up times.

WA Student Assistance Payment 2026

The WA Student Assistance Payment (WASAP) is a key State Government initiative providing cost-of-living relief to families – $150 per Kindergarten and primary school student, and $250 per secondary school student. All Western Australian school students with an active enrolment are eligible for the WA Student Assistance Payment. Eligible parents and caregivers can begin claiming the payment from Monday 20 July 2026, through the ServiceWA app.

All claims must be received by Friday 25 September 2026.

Year 11 students participated in a Study Skills program conducted by Elevate Education, focusing on high-value exam preparation tasks, learning from mistakes, effective time management and strategies for managing stress and pressure.

Trial Examination Information

The 2026 Trial Examination timetable can be found here.

The rules for the Trial Examinations can be found here. Students are expected to read, understand and follow these rules throughout the examination period. Breaches of the rules may lead to academic consequences, such as possible loss of marks.

Students who are unwell and unable to attend an examination are required to see a doctor and submit a Medical Certificate to studies@ccgs.wa.edu.au within 48 hours of the missed exam.

If a student chooses to sit an examination while unwell and their performance is affected, please note that a review or adjustment of marks will not be possible.

Term 3 Expectations for Year 12 students

ATAR students

Parents are asked to note the following details of the School’s processes and expectations for Year 12 ATAR students as we near the second half of the term:
- Weeks 6 to 8: classes and assessments as normal; teachers will still be delivering course content and revising for the exams.
- Week 9: Boys are on Study Leave on Monday 14 and Tuesday 15 September. Boys can work at home or come into school to utilise the ARC or other areas to study. Should they wish to meet with a staff member, they should email the teacher in advance to organise this. Boys need to wear school uniform when attending the campus. Please note that some practical and oral examinations will be held during this time.
- The Trial examinations start on Wednesday 16 September and finish on Friday 25 September. Any student who is too ill to sit an exam needs to see a doctor and submit a Medical Certificate within 48 hours of the missed exam.
Non-ATAR students

Parents are asked to note the following details of the School’s processes and expectations for Year 12 Non-ATAR students as we near the end of term:
- Weeks 6 to 8: classes and assessments as normal.
- Week 9/Week 10: there will be no formal classes; all students are expected to be involved in Work Experience during this period, organised by Mr James McMahon. Students who study a mix of General and ATAR courses will need to study for and complete their Trial examination(s).

University Applications through TISC

Applications through TISC for Semester 1 2027 admission will open on Tuesday 2 June 2026. Students applying through TISC will automatically be considered for an early offer for their first preference if that course makes early offers. There is no need to complete any separate or additional procedures to be considered for early offers. There will be two Year 12 Early Offer rounds this year. The first early offer round will be released on Monday 5 October 2026 and the second and final early offer round will be released on Wednesday 2 December.

Students will need these instructions to get started with their online application to TISC.

Two-Factor Authentication: For added security, two-factor authentication is required when using TISCOnline. To avoid being locked out of accounts, it is recommending students register for both available verification methods: an authenticator application and SMS. An authenticator app to generate the verification codes, and SMS to a mobile to receive the codes.
