This week we celebrate Access Asia Week in the Preparatory School. All boys will take part in special workshops during their usual Language lesson including Chinese Calligraphy, Chinese Painting and Bollywood Dancing. Boys in Year 4 were treated to a presentation on Cultural Awareness by Rashmi Watel and the Year 5 and 6 boys listened to Mr Sam Lim MP, a Malaysian-born Australian on his journey in politics. During lunchtimes, boys can participate in specific activities in the library including reading bilingual books, creating flags, Malaysia Lego Challenges, and mapping quizzes. It has been a wonderful week celebrating the diversity of Asian cultures.

The Preparatory School Winter Music Concert was held on Tuesday night in the School Chapel. The concert included performances by the Yahoos Choir, Guzheng Ensemble, the Ukulele Ensemble, Classical Guitar Ensemble and Concert Band, just to name a few. It is always wonderful to witness the commitment and talent of our students and the concert was a testament to the hard work of all boys and their music teachers.

A reminder to all parents that ICAS registration is available until 31 July. ICAS assessments are designed to target students’ higher-order thinking and problem-solving skills in English, Writing, Mathematics, Science, Spelling and Digital Technologies. The assessments are suitable for boys wishing to extend themselves academically and take up the personal challenge of competing in an international assessment. All ICAS assessments will be online and are available for boys from Years 2 to 6. For information regarding registration, sitting dates and the purchasing of practice papers, please click here.

Families will receive the Semester 1 Academic Reports for all boys in the Preparatory School at the end of Term 2. These reports aim to paint a clear picture of your son as a learner, incorporating academic achievement, effort, learning dispositions (Pre-Primary to Year 2), learning practices (Years 3 to 6) and learning targets. For boys in Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten, comments and artefacts are measured against the Early Years Learning Framework. Finally, I would like to congratulate the BGM recipients for this week.

Students from Pre-Primary to Year 3 will take part in swimming lessons during Term 4 on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays in Weeks 2 to 4 (19 October to 4 November) in our heated school pool.

Lessons will conclude with the Pre-Primary to Year 2 Swimming Carnival on Monday 9 November at 9.00am, followed by the Year 3 to 6 House Swimming Carnival the next day, Tuesday 10 November at 8.30am.

If your son is new to the School or in Pre-Primary, please email his current swimming level and swim school to McKenzie Pugh (mpugh@ccgs.wa.edu.au). Returning students from Term 4, 2025, will be grouped by previous ability.

On the final day of Term 3, Friday 25 September, students will finish at staggered times between 12.00pm and 12.45pm. School buses will depart at 1.00pm, after all students have concluded their day.

World’s Greatest Shave

On Friday 18 September, all students in Years 1 to 6 are invited to participate in the World’s Greatest Shave at Christ Church Grammar School between 10.30am and 11.30am. This special event raises vital funds for the Leukaemia Foundation, supporting Australians living with blood cancer and funding important research.

Boys wishing to shave their heads must collect a permission form from Mrs Telfer and return it signed before the event. Alternatively, students can have their hair temporarily coloured on the day for a $10 donation.

Crew neck windcheater now available

The long-awaited ‘crew neck windcheater’, has finally arrived at the Uniform Shop for students in Years 3 to 6 and can be worn as part of the Sport uniform.

The windcheater offers an extra layer of warmth, additional to the sports jacket. You can place an order for this garment in the Shop or online via MSA here.

The Music Department is delighted to offer twelve music bursaries each year on selected instruments to boys in Years 5 or 6 in 2027 who have shown enthusiasm, willingness to learn and dedication in classroom music lessons. As an initiative to raise the profile and build the music program, each bursary student will contribute to one or more music club or ensembles throughout their Preparatory and Senior schooling. Year 5 Parent Information Evening and Sundowner

On behalf of the Parents’ Association, you are invited to the Year 5 Parent Information Evening and Sundowner.

Director of Kooringal/Co-ordinator of Outdoor Education, Lachlan Short, will discuss the Year 5 Kooringal Camp and the School’s Outdoor Education Program.

World’s Greatest Shave

On Friday 18 September, all students in Years 1 to 6 are invited to participate in the World’s Greatest Shave at Christ Church Grammar School between 10.30am and 11.30am. This special event raises vital funds for the Leukaemia Foundation, supporting Australians living with blood cancer and funding important research.

Boys wishing to shave their heads must collect a permission form from Mrs Telfer and return it signed before the event. Alternatively, students can have their hair temporarily coloured on the day for a $10 donation.

Parents will be notified via email when ICAS results are available online, approximately five business days after they are released to the School. Once results are available, parents can access their child’s results through the Results Portal here using the TAP ID and PIN provided in the results notification email. Parents can also request it via this form.

As we approach the end of the term, students have the opportunity to order a new AFL guernsey if they require a larger size for 2027. Orders must be submitted prior to the end of Term 3.

Please note that this is not an opportunity to change playing number – any new guernsey ordered will be issued with the student’s current number.

Basketball tops are available to order at the end of Term 4, for the 2027 playing season.

The Uniform Shop is offering a Buy Back Scheme – return the original top (clean with no tears or stains) and receive a credit of $50.00 against the new top, resulting in a balance of $37.00 to be paid.

NOTE: It is important to be mindful that the school tries to give every boy a different number in their year playing group. If you have been given a pre-loved top from another student who may have changed sports or from an older sibling. Please notify the shop to avoid doubling up on numbers.

They are an excellent way of consolidating syllabus content in preparation for on-going school assessments. The booklets supplied by the teachers offer students supplementary support for the work they are engaged in at school. Classes are held on weekends. Early Offers

This year, the five universities have agreed that there will be two early offer rounds to Year 12 students for 2027 admission:
- Monday 5 October
- Wednesday 2 December
Early offers are only made to a student’s first TISC preference, unlike the main and second round of offers where all preferences are considered. We recommend students pay for their application at least two weeks before an early offer date to ensure their application can be assessed for an early offer. Most early offers will be conditional, so students should carefully read their offer letter so that they know what is required. Students should also be aware that not all courses are available for early offers. Generally, courses with high demand/limited places, and university enabling programs do not make early offers, but for specific lists of courses excluded from early offers, check the university websites. Early offers will continue to be made based on final Year 11 results, as it is not feasible to use mid-year Year 12 results. Accepting an early offer will not “lock” a student’s TISC application in the way that accepting a main round offer does – they are still able to change their preferences. However, in some cases, the university may specify a condition that the course preference remain the student’s first preference for the early offer to remain valid; if in doubt, the student should contact the university that has made the offer.

Access to the Nexus after 2026

We would like to advise parents that access to academic records on Nexus will cease towards the end of this year. We would therefore recommend that parents and boys take this opportunity to download and save copies of previous school reports and other records for future use.

Year 12 – final transcript of results and updated Predicted ATARs

No Year 12 reports will be issued at the end of Term 3. Instead, a final transcript of results will be made available via Nexus in Week 3 of Term 4. This will provide a final record of the marks and grades for the year, taking into account all coursework and internal examinations, as well as an updated Predicted ATAR. Parents will be advised by email when this document is ready to be downloaded.

Blazer Run

The final blazer run for Year 12, Colours, Honours and awards will commence from Friday 18 September to Friday 25 September.

Please bring your blazer to the Uniform Shop during the Shop’s normal trading hours, with all badges removed, pockets emptied, and your blazer clearly named. The shop will have your blazer dry-cleaned as part of the embroidery process.

End of Term 3 school buses

On the final day of Term 3, Friday 25 September, students will finish at staggered times between 12.00pm and 12.45pm. School buses will depart at 1.00pm, after all students have concluded their day.

ATARget Master Classes – Term 4 (Exam Focus)

The Exam Focus program aims to better prepare ATAR students for their final November exams. The classes will reteach and revise the important components of a subject but primarily they will reveal to students how this work they have studied in class will be assessed in their final exams. In these sessions teachers will discuss the implementation of important exam strategies and offer tips to improve performance, as well as modelling how to successfully answer ATAR-style questions in order to gain the maximum marks possible. There will also be time for students to independently practice constructing their own responses. For more information and bookings please visit the MMA website.

The rules for the Trial Examinations can be found here. Students are expected to read, understand and follow these rules throughout the examination period. Breaches of the rules may lead to academic consequences, such as possible loss of marks.

Students who are unwell and unable to attend an examination are required to see a doctor and submit a Medical Certificate to studies@ccgs.wa.edu.au within 48 hours of the missed exam.

If a student chooses to sit an examination while unwell and their performance is affected, please note that a review or adjustment of marks will not be possible.

Term 3 Expectations for Year 12 students

ATAR students

Parents are asked to note the following details of the School’s processes and expectations for Year 12 ATAR students as we near the second half of the term:
- Weeks 6 to 8: classes and assessments as normal; teachers will still be delivering course content and revising for the exams.
- Week 9: Boys are on Study Leave on Monday 14 and Tuesday 15 September. Boys can work at home or come into school to utilise the ARC or other areas to study. Should they wish to meet with a staff member, they should email the teacher in advance to organise this. Boys need to wear school uniform when attending the campus. Please note that some practical and oral examinations will be held during this time.
- The Trial examinations start on Wednesday 16 September and finish on Friday 25 September. Any student who is too ill to sit an exam needs to see a doctor and submit a Medical Certificate within 48 hours of the missed exam.
Non-ATAR students

Parents are asked to note the following details of the School’s processes and expectations for Year 12 Non-ATAR students as we near the end of term:
- Weeks 6 to 8: classes and assessments as normal.
- Week 9/Week 10: there will be no formal classes; all students are expected to be involved in Work Experience during this period, organised by Mr James McMahon. Students who study a mix of General and ATAR courses will need to study for and complete their Trial examination(s).

WA Student Assistance Payment 2026

The WA Student Assistance Payment (WASAP) is a key State Government initiative providing cost-of-living relief to families – $150 per Kindergarten and primary school student, and $250 per secondary school student. All Western Australian school students with an active enrolment are eligible for the WA Student Assistance Payment. Eligible parents and caregivers can begin claiming the payment from Monday 20 July 2026, through the ServiceWA app.

All claims must be received by Friday 25 September 2026.

Year 12 Study Skills

Year 12 students participated in a Study Skills program conducted by Elevate Education, focusing on overcoming weaknesses before exams, the value of exam study groups, stress management techniques and setting up effective study routines.

University Applications through TISC

Applications through TISC for Semester 1 2027 admission will open on Tuesday 2 June 2026. Students applying through TISC will automatically be considered for an early offer for their first preference if that course makes early offers. There is no need to complete any separate or additional procedures to be considered for early offers. There will be two Year 12 Early Offer rounds this year. The first early offer round will be released on Monday 5 October 2026 and the second and final early offer round will be released on Wednesday 2 December.

Students will need these instructions to get started with their online application to TISC.

Two-Factor Authentication: For added security, two-factor authentication is required when using TISCOnline. To avoid being locked out of accounts, it is recommending students register for both available verification methods: an authenticator application and SMS. An authenticator app to generate the verification codes, and SMS to a mobile to receive the codes.
