  • Preparatory Mental Health Week
  • Year 6 Outdoor Education
  • Lunchtime performances

This week the Preparatory School celebrates Mental Health Week. The boys have learnt about taking care of their mental health through messages in the student bulletin about self-care, resilience and how to ask for help. The boys have also been able to participate in activities in the library at lunchtime. These activities have included a ‘Destress Dance-off’, making stress balls and heading to the river for an outdoor reading session.

This week I had the pleasure of visiting our Year 6 boys in Kooringal. It was wonderful to see the boys engaging in their outdoor learning in such a beautiful environment. The boys were enjoying paddling on the Murray River, learning to collaborate with each other on problem-solving tasks and were engaged with an Indigenous presenter who spoke of the seasons, the traditional use of the Kooringal site and the role of plants in the area.

The Music program at Christ Church allows boys to perform in a variety of settings. This week, Senior School boys in various jazz ensembles will be performing lunchtime concerts in Manjar Square while boys eat. The Saxophone Ensemble, Armstrong Ensemble and Jazz Big Band will all perform this week. We hope boys and staff enjoy these performances and for the boys in the Preparatory School who play a musical instrument or are thinking about starting an instrument, I hope that these concerts inspire them to continue learning their instruments.

With the ongoing focus on enhancing boys’ comprehension skills and ensuring they are accessing quality literature; the Parent Forum in Week 3 will focus on our implementation of the Talk for Reading program in Years 3 to 6. I will also be presenting information about how to support parents with technology at home. If you are interested in attending, please RSVP here.
