This week our first two groups of Year 4 classes commenced their Little Queenslea Drive (LQD) experience. Little Queenslea Drive is the first overnight learning experience for students in the Preparatory School and as such, there is a strong emphasis on the boys having a positive experience away from home. As we welcome new faces into the Year 4 cohort, LQD allows both existing and new students to form friendships through a variety of group activities and challenges. Socialisation between the boys and staff on an informal basis is another key focus of this learning experience. The underlying philosophy of the LQD Program is interconnected with the Phases of Learning (Years 3 and 4 – Learning to make choices – boys reason, make choices and apply fundamentals to their learning). All Year 4 students will experience the program over the course of two days.
Starting next week, all families across the Preparatory School will have the opportunity to meet with their son’s teacher for a parent teacher interview. A reminder to ensure you have made a booking via Nexus. Parent teacher meetings will take place in person or via Teams. For more information, please refer to the email sent out last week with all relevant details. If you have further queries, please email Preparatory School Reception.
As mentioned in last week’s CCGS World, boys in Years 3 and 5 will be completing NAPLAN testing in Weeks 7 and 8. Boys have been familiarising themselves with NAPLAN style questions in class and have had the opportunity engage with online testing platforms being used on the day.The School uses NAPLAN results, along with a range of assessment data, to better understand the needs of both individual students and cohorts. Information for parents can be found here. Boys who are absent on any of the testing days will have the opportunity to catch up during Week 8.
This Thursday morning, the whole school celebrated the School’s birthday assembly in the Blue Gym. This is the only time in the academic year when all students across the Preparatory and Senior campus come together. Established in 1910, this occasion is marked with guest speakers, acknowledgement of long-serving staff, and musical performances from some of our Senior School ensembles.
