The Preparatory School has been celebrating NAIDOC Week with Olman Walley on campus running a series of workshops with all year levels. The boys have been able to participate in lunch time activities in the library as well interacting with challenges in the daily bulletin. The NAIDOC Week art exhibition in the Senior School commences this week and prep boys are welcomed to view the works. NAIDOC Week will conclude with 4SO and 4GM hosting the assembly, which will showcase some of the boys’ learnings from Australia’s Indigenous cultures.
On Wednesday, sixteen Year 5 and 6 Preparatory School boys attended Winthrop Hall at UWA to participate in the Da Vinci Decathlon. Boys competed in teams of eight across 10 disciplines: engineering, mathematics and chess, code breaking, art and poetry, science, English, ideation, creative producers, cartography and legacy. We wish all boys participating the best of luck.
Next Monday will see the inaugural IPSHA Academic Challenge held at St Mary’s Anglican Girls’ School. Two teams of 3 from Years 4, 5 and 6 will compete against a number of schools across multiple disciplines including geography, spelling, mathematics, general knowledge and logic puzzles. Again, we wish all participating boys the best of luck.
ICAS commences next week with Digital Technologies and Writing taking place Tuesday and Wednesday. All participating boys will go to their classes and have attendance marked before bringing their charged iPad to Sandover Hall. This year has seen a record number of boys enrol in this international academic competition and we congratulate all who will be giving their best.
Congratulations to this week’s Building Good Men award winners.
