  • Author Norm Jorgensen visits our Year 6s

Last week Simon Angus (Deputy Principal and Head of Senior School) spoke at the Parent Forum about Child Safety about the processes the School has undertaken to achieve Child Wise accreditation. The School is committed to the 10 National Principles for Child Safe Organisations relating to child safety and wellbeing. It was also a first for the Preparatory School Parent Forum to be able to offer those parents who were unable to attend the option of taking part via the Teams live broadcast.

This week all the boys across Years 3 and 5 have taken part in the National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN). We look forward to receiving the results and being able to further support the boys on their learning journey.

On Monday, our Year 6 classes connected with our author in residence for a day, Norm Jorgensen. Norm has worked with the Preparatory School over a period of time to demonstrate how he approaches the required research needed to construct his stories. Some of the titles of his work are: Jack’s Island, The Last Viking, Flanders Fields and more recently The Wreckers’ Revenge.

As families we all do our part to support the journey of our children and the topic of happiness and gratitude is one that remains crucial in the formation of each and every child. The following link to our SchoolTV resource provides a broad overview of the topic of happiness and gratitude by leading Australian Child Psychologist Dr Michael Carr-Gregg and a range of leading experts including Professor Lea Waters.

Best wishes for the week ahead!
