Well done to all boys who participated in the Preparatory School Athletics Carnival held at St John’s Wood playing fields this week. Irrespective of where boys placed in their races, it was clear to see all boys having a wonderful time as they competed in the 100m, 200m, hurdles, 400m 800m, leader ball, pass ball, tunnel ball and relays. It was a terrific atmosphere throughout the day with the rain being kept at bay. Congratulations to Karda for winning the Spirit Shield and to Kearla for their efforts on the day as they were named Champion House.
Congratulations to all boys in Years 3 and 5 who have now completed their NAPLAN testing for 2022. With the interruptions due to extended absences, boys have been very positive in the manner in which they have sat ‘catch-up’ sessions. As a School, we look forward to receiving the results and thank all boys and staff for their efforts.
ICAS Assessments will be taking place in Term 3. You can access information here for registration, payment, and past papers.
The St George’s Cathedral Concerts at 1.00pm in Terms 2 and 3 feature performers from a number of schools, WAAPA and the UWA Conservatorium of Music. Christ Church performed on Wednesday 18 May with three Preparatory and four Senior School students playing a variety of instruments and repertoire. All of the students – Michael Cui, Daniel Foo, Max Zhang, Aiden Tan, William Wu, Jun Yang Yap and William Ji – performed with a great deal of aplomb and musicality. Accompanied by Martina Liegat on piano, the audience were thoroughly enthralled with the focus and energy each student brought to the stage. Click here to see some photos from the performance.
To assist boys with their learning, learning intentions and success criteria are used to ensure all boys know what they are going to learn and where they are headed. Learning intentions are descriptions of what boys should know, understand and be able to do by the end of a topic or unit of work. By providing clear learning intentions, we can track the progress of boys’ learning, provide feedback, and assess achievement. Success criteria are the measures used to determine whether a boy has met the learning intentions and how well they have done so. In the Preparatory School, we are working with boys to ensure they understand what they are learning about and how they are tracking. This approach allows us to provide meaningful feedback that promotes boys learning and understanding of concepts.
