Final Prize Giving Assembly
The week ahead

Last Friday, all classes from the Preparatory School took part in our annual Orientation day in preparation for the 2021 school year. We welcomed new boys to the Preparatory School across all year levels, enabling each class to have a day together. With the help of all the Preparatory School staff the boys engaged in a range of fun activities and spent time with their new classmates.

Tuesday was a celebration of sport in the Preparatory School, with special guest Bill Kirby OAM and Olympic gold medallist taking the time to speak to the boys and present the sport award winners. Bill offered some great advice to the boys, shared some inspiring and funny stories about his journey and his ultimate success in achieving a gold medal at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. Congratulations to all the boys who represented the School this year.

As you read this CCGS World article our Years Five and Six teams were engaged in their final fixture for the year against Guildford Grammar. Despite Covid-19, it has been great to see all the boys participate as a team each week against the other PSA schools. Well done to all the boys for their efforts throughout the Winter and Summer seasons.

Friday is our Preparatory School Final Prize Giving Assembly where we recognise boys from Years 3 to 6 for academic excellence, citizenship and general merits. This is a wonderful opportunity to highlight the academic program and the values personified across the Preparatory School. Our Final Prize Giving Assembly commences at 8.35am in the Chapel.

Ronald McDonald House Charity Donation Drive – Week 9

This term, Kearla House is proud to lead a Preparatory School-wide donation drive in support of Ronald McDonald House Charity WA. Ronald McDonald House provides a home-away-from-home for families who need to stay close to their child while receiving medical treatment, helping to ease some of the challenges they face during difficult times.

Throughout Week 9, all boys in the Preparatory School are invited to bring in donations of essential items, including toiletries, books, games, toys, baby items and non-perishable food. Donations can be sent to the School with your son and placed in the designated collection bins.

Every donation, no matter the size, will help provide comfort, care and practical support to children and families staying at Ronald McDonald House. We thank our Preparatory School community for joining us in this important opportunity to show compassion, generosity and service to others.

On Wednesday 10 June from 7.00am to 7.00pm, the Christ Church community will come together for our inaugural Giving Day – a special opportunity to support programs that create life-changing opportunities for boys.

PERFORM- the home for wellbeing and personal development, music, debating, public speaking and the arts

Years 4 to 6 JPSSA Inter-School Athletics Field Event Trials

The Years 4 to 6 JPSSA Inter-School Athletics Field Event Trials will take place in Week 10 of this term and will act as the selection for Inter-School Field events. If your son would like to take part, please click here.

Year 4 AFL Carnival – Thursday 11 June

All Year 4 boys will be participating in the AFL Carnival with Hale School and Scotch College. Students will each play two games of twelve-a-side AFL Auskick with the first game scheduled to start at approximately 1pm and the second game to commence at approximately 1.45pm (concluding around 2.30pm). Please be aware that scores will not be kept as this is a participation-based event and teams have been chosen at random. The purpose of the carnival program is to further develop sportsmanship, respect for others and character and to have fun. It must be remembered that these carnivals are designed to cater for students of all abilities and experience levels.

When: Thursday 11 June
Time: 12.45pm to 2.40pm
Where: Scotch College
To bring: Normal PE/sport uniform, hat, clearly labelled water bottle and mouthguard. Football boots are optional, but not necessary.

All boys should come to school dressed in their correct sports uniform on the day. Boys should wear their CCGS shirt not their house shirt.

We will meet from 7.00pm in the bar area, where everyone can grab a drink first, then head over to our reserved boards at 8.30pm. Dart experience is not required, the more wayward the darts, the bigger the laughs! Playing darts is not compulsory.

Daniel Principe – Championing Teens in a Digital World

We are pleased to welcome youth advocate and educator Daniel Principe for a parent and community presentation titled Championing Teens in a Digital World.

As parents, it is becoming increasingly challenging to understand the online influences shaping the attitudes, relationships and identities of young people today. From social media and influencers to evolving conversations around masculinity, respect and relationships, many of the messages our boys receive can have a significant impact on how they view themselves and the world around them.

This term, Kearla House is proud to lead a Preparatory School-wide donation drive in support of Ronald McDonald House Charity WA. Ronald McDonald House provides a home-away-from-home for families who need to stay close to their child while receiving medical treatment, helping to ease some of the challenges they face during difficult times.

Throughout Week 9, all boys in the Preparatory School are invited to bring in donations of essential items, including toiletries, books, games, toys, baby items and non-perishable food. Donations can be sent to the School with your son and placed in the designated collection bins.

We are pleased to announce the launch of the Athlete Management Program, a new initiative designed to support student athletes in Years 7 to 12 as they pursue high-performance sport, while maintaining a strong focus on academic achievement and wellbeing.

The Years 10 and 11 pathway is selective and is available to eligible students competing at representative levels or pursuing recognised elite sporting pathways. The Program provides tailored support, including mentoring and individualised workload management, to help eligible students perform at their best both in and out of the classroom.

Year 10 students participated in a Study Skills program conducted by Elevate Education, focusing on using the syllabus to guide study, organising and reviewing notes, conceptual learning, practising with past papers, and standing out through independent learning.

Master Mind Australia July Skill Development Program

Master Mind Australia (MMA) will be delivering Essay Writing and Study Skills programs for Years 7 to 10 students on the Christ Church campus in the July Holidays (6 to 10 July). These classes offer students specific advice and skills to improve their ability to construct a successful essay, and to better organise themselves for future studies. This program provides a unique, hands-on opportunity for students who are passionate about a future in medicine. This program is designed to inspire and equip students with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed on their path to a medical career.

Introducing the Athlete Management Program

We are pleased to announce the launch of the Athlete Management Program, a new initiative designed to support student athletes in Years 7 to 12 as they pursue high-performance sport, while maintaining a strong focus on academic achievement and wellbeing.

The Years 10 and 11 pathway is selective and is available to eligible students competing at representative levels or pursuing recognised elite sporting pathways. The Program provides tailored support, including mentoring and individualised workload management, to help eligible students perform at their best both in and out of the classroom.

Daniel Principe – Championing Teens in a Digital World

We are pleased to welcome youth advocate and educator Daniel Principe for a parent and community presentation titled Championing Teens in a Digital World.

As parents, it is becoming increasingly challenging to understand the online influences shaping the attitudes, relationships and identities of young people today. From social media and influencers to evolving conversations around masculinity, respect and relationships, many of the messages our boys receive can have a significant impact on how they view themselves and the world around them.

Drawing on his experience working with tens of thousands of young people across Australia, Daniel will provide practical insights to help parents better understand the digital world their sons are navigating and how we can work together to support the development of respectful, empathetic and confident young men.

Master Mind Australia July Skill Development Program

Master Mind Australia (MMA) will deliver a comprehensive exam-preparation program for Years 11 and 12 ATAR students on the Christ Church campus during the July Holidays (6 to 10 July). These classes offer students a structured revision and consolidation program which includes an explanation of how the content that they have studied is assessed in formal examinations. Study Skills and Essay Writing modules are also available. More details are available on the MMA website.

Year 11 students should refer to Nexus News or check their emails for information regarding subject changes following the Semester 1 Exams. Please be aware that not all changes will be possible. The deadline for subject change requests is Friday 12 June (Week 8B). It will not be possible to make changes after this date.

The LEAP Foundation Leadership Program offers an exciting leadership opportunity for young people aged 16-24 at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), with scholarships available for the week-long residential program.

Assessment Periods 2026

Every Wednesday, Period 4 has been designated as an Assessment Period for Year 11 students. Not every student will have an assessment every week, but it would be appreciated if parents could avoid making medical appointments or other arrangements at this time. When students do not have an assessment at this time, they will be assigned to a learning space for private study. Boys are not permitted to leave the campus for Claremont during assessment periods.

University Applications through TISC

Applications through TISC for Semester 1 2027 admission will open on Tuesday 2 June 2026. Students applying through TISC will automatically be considered for an early offer for their first preference if that course makes early offers. There is no need to complete any separate or additional procedures to be considered for early offers. There will be two Year 12 Early Offer rounds this year. The first early offer round will be released on Monday 5 October 2026 and the second and final early offer round will be released on Wednesday 2 December.

Students will need these instructions to get started with their online application to TISC.

Two-Factor Authentication: For added security, two-factor authentication is required when using TISCOnline. To avoid being locked out of accounts, it is recommending students register for both available verification methods: an authenticator application and SMS. An authenticator app to generate the verification codes, and SMS to a mobile to receive the codes.

Curtin University Medicine – Casper Test

Students who wish to apply to Curtin University (Medicine) this year, apart from the UCAT, applicants will also need to register and complete the Casper Test, which is conducted by Acuity Insights.
- Applicants will be ranked for the interview offer on the basis of their Casper score, UCAT score and ATAR.
- All applicants (other than Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islanders) must complete the Casper Test.
- School leavers and Curtin Course Switchers must sit the Undergraduate Casper Test. Non-school leavers (graduates) will have to sit the Postgraduate Casper Test.
- Casper scores are valid only for the next available admissions year. Applicants should only complete the test in the year immediately preceding their planned year of admission. Applicants re-applying for the Medical Entry in a subsequent year must re-sit the Casper Test.
- The Casper Test is held nationally and is sat online from home.
- Applicants are responsible for making their own arrangements to register for the Casper Test. Please refer to the Acuity Insights website to register for the test.

- 21 June 2026 – 8.00am
- 6 August 2026 – 5.00pm
- 13 September 2026 – 8.00am
- 8 October 2026 – 4.00pm

Year 12 is a fast and frenetic year – it is very helpful if parents, as well as boys, are aware of key dates. The dates can be found here.

Please take particular note that if your son is studying a subject with a practical exam, he must be available during the Term 3 holidays for this exam. SCSA issues these exam times and will not make alternative arrangements where the times are deemed inconvenient by parents. They also do not accede to parents’ requests for particular dates and times.

In short – please do not make any plans to travel interstate or overseas with your son during the Term 3 holidays.

Creative Kids Art Club

Creative Kids Art Club is now enrolling for Term 3 and the July holidays, with art classes for children aged 2.5 to 14 years. For more information or to book, click here or call 0476 149 696.

Pro Football Training All-Day School Holiday Camp

Pro Football Training will host an All-Day School Holiday Camp during the first week of the holidays. Open to students from Pre-Primary to Year 8, the program includes soccer, multi-sport activities, rest and recovery sessions, lunch-time competitions, and a mix of indoor and outdoor games. Each participant will also receive an exclusive PFT camp shirt.

UWA Sport Kids Holiday Program

UWA Sport’s Holiday Sports Clinics are back for the Winter Holidays. These half-day sessions are an opportunity for children aged 6 to 16 to try a new sport and develop their skills in a safe, inclusive environment during the school holidays.
- Morning clinics are held in the morning, from 9.00am to 12.00pm
- Afternon clinics are held in the afternoon, from 1.00pm to 4.00pm
- You can now book supervised lunch breaks from 12.00pm to 1.00pm in between clinic sessions to get a full-day program experience
The youngest participants will participate in sport FUNdamentals clinics, while kids aged 8 and up will dive deep into their chosen sport or recreation activity with Specialist clinics.

Active Kids Holiday Program

Active Kids – School Holiday Program, run by Murdoch Activities at Murdoch University, is a fun-filled multi-sports program for children from Kindergarten to Year 6, designed to keep kids active, engaged, and having fun throughout the school holidays. Each day features a variety of sports, games, and activities to keep every child entertained.

The program runs from 29 June to 17 July.
