As the final term of the year gets underway, we must prepare for the opportunities change will provide. For our departing Year 12 boys, the opportunity to realise goals set and conclude their time at school in a positive and appreciative manner. Year 11 boys similarly have the opportunity to develop leadership skills and Year 10 boys have the opportunity to tackle exams and Venture; the list could go on. Opportunities abound at Christ Church and can be applied to many different contexts. My message to all boys as they undertake the term ahead is to make the most of these opportunities and tackle the challenges that lie ahead.

I would like to remind all families of the procedures to follow in the case of your son falling ill during the school day. In the first instance, the boys are required to notify a staff member or classroom teacher that they feel unwell. The Health Centre will then be notified and boys must report to the registered nurse on duty. Health Centre staff will treat the boy and determine the appropriate course of action to be followed. In recent times, it would appear that many boys are taking matters into their own hands and using their mobile phones to ask parents to collect them without consulting anyone. This practice is not acceptable. Such action breaches the School’s duty of care for students and creates unnecessary work for many staff, thus I seek your co-operation in following the correct procedure.

Next Thursday 19 October we will be celebrating the graduation of our Year 12 creatives from our Visual Arts, Design and Media courses at the opening night of Magnum Opus. The evening will showcase a great variety of contemporary and traditional art forms by our talented creatives and I invite all members of the school community along to this much-anticipated event. We are excited to be hosting our Kooringal Family Day on Sunday 22 October which offers an opportunity for Christ Church families to get together and enjoy a fun day out at our Outdoor Education Centre based in Dwellingup. Finally, as the weather warms up (hopefully!) and all boys have changed to summer uniform, it is important to ensure that all elements of their personal presentation are first class. In particular, adhering to the standards of student presentation as outlined previously.
