On Sunday afternoon, the Christ Church Grammar School Army Cadet Unit hosted the Rats of Tobruk commemorative service at the Tobruk war memorial in Kings Park. This year marked the 82nd anniversary of the battle.

The Cadets performed a flag raising ceremony prior to the service. Cadet Under Officer Jonny Hamdorf delivered an address outlining the siege of Tobruk in the World War 2, which was well received by those present, including the Rats of Tobruk association and descendants of those who fought.

Christ Church Grammar School are the custodians of the memorial. Due to COVID-19, the last service was conducted in 2020 and this year was, regrettably, the first service without veterans of the battle attending, as they have all passed.

Lest we forget.
