The 2021 Senior School Art Exhibition opened on Wednesday 20 October, showcasing the amazing talent of our Year 12 visual arts, design and media students.

The exhibition – titled ’Let’s Talk About Inspiration’ – began with a showcase of short films, produced by our Year 12 Media students. The films ranged from the sombre and poignant to the raucous and hilarious and each demonstrated our art students’ deep understanding of genre and film-making techniques.

Mark Parfitt, Major Lead, Co-ordinator and Lecturer of the Bachelor of Creative Arts at Curtin University opened the exhibition and spoke about the value that artists and designers have in current and future industries. He encouraged the students to embrace their creative skills which will make them invaluable to employers as innovators, outside the box thinkers and problem solvers who can reinvent themselves, and their skills, as they progress through their careers and lives.

From there, the winners of this year’s art prizes were announced and the teachers in the Art Department were celebrated for their dedication and tireless hard work.

The evening concluded with the guests in attendance taking a tour of the Art Department building where all of our Years 7 to 12 Art Students’ works adorned the walls on full display.

It was a sensational night with over 250 people in attendance, the format received incredible positive feedback and the buzz around the school was electric.
