Christ Church Grammar School students Austin van der Struyf (Year 11) and Hugh Davies (Year 12) were recently selected for the State Academy 16s and 18s squad, respectively.

During a presentation night at Optus Stadium (the first since the pandemic struck) the boys were awarded their jumpers for the upcoming WA campaigns.

The night took on special significance with most players presented jumpers by family members.

Christ Church Grammar School Firsts Football Coach Samuel Wallace said he was proud of the boys for their achievement.

“Austin and Hugh have put in the hard yards to better themselves and their game, so this accomplishment is well deserved,” he said.

“It has been a great joy to watch them on the field playing for Christ Church and I will watch their footy careers with great interest.”

Christ Church Grammar School Principal Alan Jones said the boys would be assets to their squads.

“Austin and Hugh are the perfect example of how working hard towards a goal can pay off,” he said.

“Congratulations to Austin, Hugh, their families and their coaches here at Christ Church.”
