Plenty of sweet and savoury items were enjoyed this week by staff in the Preparatory and Senior School as Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea took place to support a worthy cause.

Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea is Cancer Council’s most popular fundraising event and the largest, most successful event of its kind in Australia. The event involves bringing friends, colleagues and a community together over tea and treats, to help raise money for people impacted by cancer.

“We have had a number of staff or their family members affected by cancer and feel it is a wonderful opportunity to raise money and awareness for cancer research through the Harry Perkins Institute,” says Todd Harnwell, member of the Staff Association.

“Former teaching colleague and member of the Staff Association Mary Brunsdon ran the morning tea for a number of years and it has been our privilege to continue what she started.”

“Staff are encouraged to make a gold coin donation at the morning tea which results in around $500 being raised for this worthwhile cause every year.”

All donations made across the country go towards the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research and helping Cancer Council achieve its mission of a cancer free future.
