The Chapel Forecourt was transformed into a bustling marketplace yesterday, as Year 6 students put their entrepreneurial skills to the test at Market Day.

As part of the Endeavour Project, the boys spent weeks developing their own products and businesses. They conducted market research at Claremont Quarter, surveyed potential customers, created prototypes, sourced materials, designed packaging, set prices and developed advertising.

Yesterday, it all came down to one question: would people actually buy it?

The answer was a resounding yes. Preparatory students, parents and staff filled the marketplace, browsing the stalls, asking questions and purchasing the boys’ products. The students put their business skills into action, attracting customers, explaining their products, managing payments and keeping their businesses running.

The day also built on what the boys learnt through Giving Day in June about the importance of generosity and helping others. All proceeds from Market Day will go towards the School’s Scholarship Fund, helping to give a boy the opportunity of a Christ Church education.

For the Year 6 students, it was a chance to see their ideas become real businesses, experience the satisfaction of seeing their hard work pay off and know that their efforts could help create an opportunity for another boy.
