The School Chapel came alive this morning with the voices of every single boy as they performed musical hits ranging from alternative to pop rock in the 2018 House Shout competition.

Queenslea are the House Shout champions for 2018, delivering a great performance of Wonderwall by Oasis. Craigie came in second with I Will Wait by Mumford and Sons and Noake third with My Happiness by Powderfinger.

Guest judge Mrs Eboney Yapp said “Each of our Houses should be proud of their performances today and it was great to see ideas of creativity on stage.”

“We were impressed by all items, particularly the amount of enthusiasm and quality of singing. It was extremely difficult to choose a winner as the standard was very high. Judging criteria such as diction, how clearly each word is pronounced or sung, tonal quality, following your conductor, intonation, in particular in part singing, and creativity were all considered.”

“We also had a special addition to our backing band this year, Reverend Nicholas Russell on acoustic guitar. He was fantastic!”

The final results were:

4th – Romsey with Mr Brightside by The Killers
5th – Jupp with Somebody Told Me by The Killers
6th – Wolsey with Are You Gonna Be My Girl by Jet
7th – Moyes with Riptide by Vance Joy
8th – Hill with Teenage Dirtbag by Wheatus

Thank you to everyone involved with assisting our Houses in the lead up to this year’s competition and our exceptional band (in particular Mr Jozef Grech who arranged all the songs for the Houses) for their backing of each performance item.
