Whilst these April school holidays provided students a great time to relax, our sailors and hockey players were busy competing in their respective sporting codes.

In hockey, our touring side made up of Year 10, 11 and 12 students celebrated being crowned champions at the MGS International Hockey competition in Melbourne with a 2-1 win against Melbourne Grammar.

Hockey team coach Brendon Noble says “The boys performed exceptionally well considering they had not played together as a group prior to the trip. A short training session to work on some basic structures prepared the boys well for the tournament, where they won every game.”

“The final was a tight match where Christ Church came out 3-2 winners. Player of the tournament went to our very own Clancy Adamson.”

On the water, CCGS Gold finished 2nd in the finals of the 2018 WA Schools Team Regatta held at Nedlands Yacht Club and further qualified for the National Championships to be held in Victoria in the July school holidays.

“The qualifying series saw Scotch College Gold emerge unbeaten with 24 wins, followed by Christ Church young guns, the Gold team, in 2nd place with 18 wins. The team included Jamie Bougher, Barney Woo and Sam Rose – three very talented young skippers with international sailing experience in their own chosen class of yacht,” says coach, Geoff McGillivray.

“This up and coming young team has the potential to be a serious threat at the national level and we wish them well in their endeavours.”

Well done to players from both teams on their performance.
