Music and Drama students will showcase their talents at two events this week, highlighting the integral role of performing arts in our well-rounded education for boys.

In their early years, music is compulsory in our young students’ curriculum. During this time and as they transition into the Senior School, many students discover a passion for playing an instrument and continue their musical journey into their final years of schooling. We currently have over 40% of our boys who take up a musical instrument, which is celebrated in our School community.

One such celebration is the Soli ’23 music concert, which will be held this Saturday 2 September at Hadley Hall, MLC. Soli ’23 is a highlight of the Christ Church calendar and the pinnacle of our Year 12 students’ musical journey at Christ Church. Year 12 students performing include Aman Shetty, Ben Kao, George Playford, James Tran, Jamie Kafetzis, Liam Goebel, Luke Annear, Nic Cradock, Reuben Brady, Sam Gibson, Tom Pickering, William Wu, Yeshen Behari, and band Dune Cartel. This year’s event features music from a variety of genres, including rock, jazz, pop, and classical, and promises to be a spectacular evening of music for all to enjoy.

Our Drama class of 2023 will also be performing Company 2023 to the School community tonight at 7.00pm in the Christ Church Drama Centre. Please join us if you would like to experience an evening of scripted monologues and solo performances. Students performing include Jack Collis, Nic Cradock, Johnny Hamdorf, Rex Hogan, Hawk Hughes, Jamie Kafetzis, Harry Ranger, Frank Stevenson, Dani Tamlin, and George Warner. This is a wonderful event to witness the theatrical talents of our senior students.

Fundraising for the School’s new performing arts precinct, PERFORM, is underway, with works scheduled for next year. PERFORM will bring Music and Drama together to serve as the cultural hub of the School. These wonderful events are a reminder of the importance of performing arts at Christ Church, and the exciting opportunities that PERFORM will bring to our current and future students for years to come.
