A fantastic result for Christ Church Grammar School at the IPSHA Academic Challenge Wednesday evening, with one of our Preparatory School teams taking out first place in the competition held at Methodist Ladies’ College.

Six Christ Church students took part in two teams, with each made up of one student from Years 4 to 6, competing alongside 72 students from 12 schools in a series of fast-paced, 10-minute rounds.

Congratulations to Luke Neil, Ben Ramadas and Patrick Holmes A’Court, who were part of the winning team. The students tackled questions across geography, spelling, mathematics, general knowledge, science, technology and logic. From identifying what UNESCO stands for to naming the capital of Mongolia, there was plenty to test their knowledge and teamwork.

Coordinator of the Centre for Excellence, Sally McKinnon, said the competition was a great opportunity for students to challenge themselves while meeting students from other schools.

“Academic competitions like this allow our students to extend themselves beyond the regular curriculum, while developing their knowledge, teamwork and confidence. They also get to meet students from other schools and enjoy the experience of learning and competing together,” she said.

Well done to all six students for representing the School, and congratulations to Luke, Ben and Patrick on a fantastic win.
