This week our Year 1 boys paid a visit to Peninsula Farm, one of the first farms in the Swan River Colony.

This farm and residence on the banks of the Swan River provided the students with a unique opportunity to explore the early years of European settlement in Western Australia.

Students spent the day learning about the farm’s first owners, the Hardey family and what life was like back in the 1800s.

“We went on a tour of their house and tried to guess what some of the old objects were used for,” commented the Year 1 boys.

“After lunch we got to play old-fashioned games like hopscotch, skipping, egg and spoon racing, quoits, horseshoes and spinning tops, and draw pictures of the Hardey family too.”

“It was a fun day and we all learnt lots of interesting things about life in the Swan River Colony.”
