The Preparatory School has been celebrating Book Week with a variety of events and activities taking place to encourage students to take up the joy of reading. This annual celebration acknowledges the significant contribution books and Australian children’s authors and illustrators make in the lives of school-aged children.

Throughout the week the Preparatory School students have received presentations from authors, including Kylie Howarth, Tristan Bancks, Nat Amoore, Gavin Aung Than and Tim Harris.

In their dedicated library lessons, students have been ‘growing’ the library in a festive manner. Each year group has been assigned a tree to decorate in the theme of one of this year’s shortlisted books. These special trees will be on display in the library and at the book week assembly.

The Preparatory library has also organised a ‘roving library’ in places where things grow around the School. There have been different activities and shelves each day, and students can borrow as many items as they like during these sessions.

Finally, the annual Book Week Assembly will take place tomorrow morning. This special event will see the students dress up as their favourite book character, or use this year’s Book Week theme ‘read, inspire, grow’ as a source of inspiration. Watch our socials for photos of the Book Week Parade.
