Our Pre-Kindergarten students recently welcomed Play in the Past for its Little Locals incursion, exploring the many people who help keep our community safe.

The boys moved through five interactive play stations, using dress-ups and real-world items including stethoscopes, bandages, life jackets and helmets to discover the important roles of first responders, hospital staff, surf lifesavers and environmental helpers. They also enjoyed learning about caring for Country and the important role Aboriginal Elders play in sharing knowledge, stories and culture.

Whether treating patients at the hospital, responding to an emergency or helping care for the environment, each activity encouraged the boys to explore their local community through imaginative, hands-on play.

It was a wonderful opportunity for our youngest learners to develop a greater appreciation for the people who care for others and the environment, while building confidence, curiosity and communication through play.
