Pre-Primary uncovers Perth’s past at the State Library
Published on: 12 March 2026
The Pre-Primary boys recently enjoyed an excursion to the State Library of Western Australia, where they explored a fascinating collection of historic photographs capturing Perth in years gone by. As they examined the images, the boys discussed how the city has changed over time and considered what photographs can reveal about life in the past.
A highlight of the visit was the interactive exhibition Monkey Business: It’s a Barrel of Fun!, which showcases vibrant illustrations from the Library’s picture book collection. The colourful displays sparked curiosity and lively conversation as the boys explored the gallery together.
The excursion complemented the class’s Humanities and Social Sciences inquiry into the past and how places change over time, helping the boys deepen their understanding of how we learn about history and the stories photographs can tell.
