Celebrating Autism Awareness Week
Published on: 2 April 2026
This week, the School marked Autism Awareness Week, an opportunity to celebrate and better understand the unique strengths, perspectives, and experiences students on the autism spectrum bring to our community.
With 1 in 27 children in Australia diagnosed as autistic, we are reminded of the importance of creating a culture where every student feels seen, supported, and valued for who they are.
Wardung House in the Preparatory School led a fundraising initiative for the charity ‘All Stars for Autism’, with students showing their support by wearing funky socks and ties. It was wonderful to see such enthusiasm across the School, with an impressive $1,200 raised.
Throughout the week, our Preparatory School students took part in a variety of activities that encouraged understanding and empathy. From storytelling and class discussions to a collaborative puzzle piece display, students explored the idea that everyone belongs and has an important place in our community.
Our Barista Boys in the Senior School were serving coffee across the week, with all proceeds donated to Spectrum Space in support of autistic individuals and their families.
We would also like to sincerely thank our Peter Moyes Centre and Learning Development Centre staff for the care, patience, and dedication they show every day. Their support makes a meaningful difference in the lives of our students and our wider school community.
