Over the past three weeks, Christ Church and MLC students joined forces for swimming lessons in the Christ Church pool. The new initiative provided an opportunity for Pre-Primary to Year 2 boys and girls to get to know each other while learning how to swim.

Pre-Primary to Year 3 PE teacher Kim Malajczuk said in previous years, Christ Church had run its nine lesson swimming program with MLC running its own similar program a week later in the Christ Church pool. “The teachers, age groups and duration of the lessons were the same so it made sense to combine while being a perfect opportunity for the girls and boys to get to know one another,” she said.

Mrs Malajczuk said the combined lessons had been a huge success. “We were able to secure all the teachers we needed through Kirby Swim and the boys and girls really enjoyed swimming together. We hope to continue the relationship next year and look at some more possibilities of working together in the future,” she said.

Christ Church’s swimming program culminates in the Pre-Primary to Year 2 Swimming Carnival, held on Tuesday 9 April, from 9.00am to 11.00am.
