About 350 boys took part in the inaugural Preparatory School House Sports Day recently. The new event, held at Mt Claremont Playing Fields and the State Basketball Stadium, aimed to encourage participation while promoting House Spirit.

Prep Sportsmaster Brady Leckie, who organised the day, said boys from Years 3 to 6 participated in House teams in soccer, tee-ball, cricket and basketball. No points were awarded as the event was focused on participation. “It was a terrific day with perfect weather and boys taking part in the four codes across the two locations.”

Mr Leckie said 32 Year 9 boys assisted on the day, taking on the roles of coaches or managers of the Years 3 to 6 teams. “It was great to see the Prep boys learning from and working with the Senior School boy. This also freed up staff to umpire games,” he said.

Mr Leckie said it was fantastic to see a number of parents at both venues. “It was a very competitive day with teams demonstrating great sportsmanship and House spirit.”
