A new chapter begins for CCGS Army Cadets
Published on: 21 August 2025
Last week Robert Coales commenced at Christ Church Grammar School in the role of Officer Commanding for the School’s Army Cadet Unit. Robert has a background in military and policing and as an old boy and past parent, a deep understanding of the School an the unique role Army Cadets plays in the Christ Church education.
The Army Cadets program is a very important part of the School’s co-curricular program, and was established in 1952. The Unit has a long and proud history of developing leaders and supporting our community. Cadets offers students an opportunity to gain valuable skills outside a traditional classroom setting.
Commencing in Year 10, students who select Army Cadets develop leadership skills, a great understanding of team membership and specialist skills such as first aid and navigation, through their participation in a range of activities. The experiences build confidence, self-discipline and a sense of community which equips our students with valuable life skills for the future (and Venture which runs in November for Year 10 students).
Congratulations to current Army Cadets Atticus Kimberley, Felix Maxted, William Wang and Vivik Varghese who last Friday were promoted to Lance Corporal after completing their Junior Leaders Course.
Over the coming months students and parents of Year 9 students will be provided with more information about this activity.
