Earlier this month, five senior cadets attended Cadet Under Officer (CUO) and Warrant Officer courses at the Leeuwin Barracks and Bindoon Training Area. Co-ordinator of army cadets Duane Nurse said the courses prepared the boys for their leadership roles in the year ahead.

CDTSGT (Cadet Sergeant) Sam Elias was awarded Dux of the CUO course and recipient of a Gold Commanders Commendation for his placing. The other boys who took part included CDTSGT Owain Chandler, CDTSGT Adam Butler, CDTSGT Myles McQuillan and CDTSGT Adeniyi Adegboye.

Officer Commanding, Captain Conrad Scott, who was a senior instructor on the Cadet Under Officers course, said the boys had now completed three promotional courses in the school holidays.

“The cadets completed eight leadership scenarios over a gruelling 40km-course in full marching order, culminating in a character defining last push where teamwork and leadership needed to be exercised to complete an arduous 5km forced march and 2km stretcher carry,” Captain Scott said.
